I have been noticing Darwin's behavior around groups of people lately, and I'm starting to think he's quite the independent. He will come check in with us every fifteen minutes or so, but other than that he's all about going to meet everyone. He'll choose to go lay on other people's laps instead of ours, even when we are in the same room. he also has no problem happily following people out of the room or house, away from us. On the flip side, I've met a lot of pups that only like to cuddle up with their owners. They are friendly to people, but will quickly return to their owner's side. What side of the spectrum does your doodle fall on, or is it somewhere in between?

Oh my Gosh! My goldendoodle, Bella, does that too. We went to a dog park several months ago. In stead of playing with the other dogs, she was off in a corner sitting with another family and they were petting her. She looked as if she was part of their family. When they left, she turned around and watched them leave, all the way to the car. It's like she was wondering why her family left without her. It was hilarious! Then, at other times she can be quite afraid of new people. Go figure.
I always say that Gavin has the same motto as the Hard Rock Cafe "Love all, serve all."

At obedience class Saturday we had some off-leash time at the end. Gavin happily greeted each dog and each owner. In fact at that the end of the class we had to call him to us as he layed down between the legs of another woman. None of the other dogs left their owners side to greet us. I think its a good thing, when they are that adaptable. I think some people nurture the insecurity that their dogs display because they like feeling that their dogs are dependent on them. Checking in is a great sign that he is secure enough to explore but still knows who mom is. I think Darwin has got it right and it means you did a good job socializing him!
Guinness is pretty funny....he's attracted to women, and the younger the better. He pretty much ignores men, but let a young girl or woman even look at him and he's in heaven. If they pet him, let him sit on their laps, or tell him how cute he is that's the ultimate...it just doesn't get any better for Guinness. Hmmm, now that I think of it my son is a little like that too. LOL
Lilly likes people too, but she won't go far from me. Someone can be petting her and all I have to do is say her name and she is by my side.
Jordan is just like Lilly :)
