This may be a silly question, but what type coat do you feel mats worse than another and do you think their coat color has anything to do with developing mats?
Also what tool do you find works the best to bust up mats?

I personally like the Les Pooches brush (green-small) it worked better for me than the matt cutters and slicker brushes. I still use the slicker brush where there are no matts. My pup just started matting a month ago, she will be a year old this month. Even if I brush her daily there are still more matts to brush out the next day. It's aggravating. I plan to brush her out this morning and then trim her down to about two inches, I just can't shave her and I don't think that will solve the problem anyway. I don't know what type of coat mats worse. She had a wavy coat and now seems to be getting a wooly coat, I don't know which she'll have once the puppy coat is gone and the adult takes over. Guess this is just part of being a doodle owner, it's worth it when you look into those eyes isn't it?
I'm having the same problem with Beckett. He's a year old and "blowing" his puppy fur. He never matted before but now I have to brush him every day! I got a CC brush for him. It works pretty well. But he still gets little matts or knots everyday. I hope he doesn't matt after his adult fur comes in. Does anyone know how long it takes? And also if a puppy didn't matt before, will they matt after losing the puppy fur? I hope not :) I'm not sure which type of fur matts worse.
I just found my 7 months olds ears covered in mats totally around the edges of one ear and most of the other. First mats ever, but with swimming and lots of ear medications, it's not surprising.

I used Cowboy Magic detangler and a Les Pooches green brush. Amazing! brushed out very easily. Didn;t have either this week on vacation and started with a regular brush and comb, and they wouldn't budge, so used a scissor to cut thru them by putting open blade at the base of the mat and sliding up away from the ear. Lost a lot more hair that way, but it looked so uncomfortable I couldn't wait till I got home to use my brush and CM. Recommend both products !!!!! Won;t leave home without them again.
I must be very fortunate. Our 2/12 year old doodle Sadie has never had one mat or tat and did not have her first official hair cut until she was 2. She has a nice soft loose curly coat.
