I try to resist unless Tully is really stinky, which he can be when he rolls in what he considers "perfume," poop or animal remains! I just started having him groomed on a 6-8 week basis as he is really resistant to brushing or combing from me.
There is not one right answer. I don't bathe my dogs in the winter, so they go quite a long time. Maybe November to March depending on the weather. As long as it is cold and snowy they don't get dirty.
In the summer I blow the dust out of their coats often, maybe 2 times a week and bath 3 or 4 times over the summer.
Nope...my doodles do not get smelly. Once one of my boys rolled in something terribly smelly. I used some waterless shampoo for a quick fix and it was a couple of days before I got him to the bath...he didn't smell by then because the 'stuff', whatever it was had fallen off his coat.
not a blow dryer..... a blower....it is a grooming tool with high velocity air- and little or no heat. I have it on my short list of must haves. I always say if I could only have 2 tools, it would be a steel comb and scissors. I could groom with that, but the blower is number 3.
It keeps brushing time in half and keeps the dust out of the coats.
I use a DryEaz one but there are a number of them on the market. You have to make sure you get a really high velocity one.
What brand of waterless shampoo do you use? I tried one once and it didn't do what I thought. Maybe I expect too much, but I wanted to see cleaner legs and feet and I didn't. Or maybe, I didn't use a good product.
I use Stazko products. I have been having trouble getting them and their website disappeared. Yesterday I found it up and running again so I emailed them and I am hoping they are back in the market.
