Doodle coat

Hello all!

So is it safe to say that if a doodle has a fleece coat as a puppy, that she will have a fleece coat as an adult?

Barb would be a good one to answer this because she has experience with many doodles. But I can tell you about Tara's coat. She is a multi gen ALD and as a pup had a wavy fleece coat. Her adult coat is still wavy fleece however in some areas it is a tighter wave. Her legs are curlier than her body but her tail is really straight. So more of a mix. It has not changed from fleece to wool. Is that what you are wondering about?

yes, something along those lines. Chloes sounds pretty similar to Taras, a wavy fleece i belive but it has different textures kind of in some spots like along her back it is a little curlier and the tail is pretty straight aswell.

Just wasnt sure if it was possible for her to have a wool coat in the future.

Not totally. You need more information. What are the parent's coats like? Have you seen pics of the parents when they were younger?

Things like that will help you figure it out. Fleece is smooth and shiny. Wool lacks shine and is soft. Curly fleece can be hard to tell sometimes. Not sure how old your puppy is but here is a fleece coat at 16 wks.

ah! well hers doesnt look like that at all i dont think.

I guess maybe she isnt a fleece not sure. Yes i have seen adult pictures of the parents and the mother is a wavy fleece and father is wool

Is there a way to tell what type of hair Chloe has as of now, from pictures?

Here is what Tara looked like at 15 weeks. I think her coat looks somewhat similar to Chloe's.
