HELP...they turned my dood into a pood!! I live in the St. Louis area and I cannot find a decent groomer that understands how to groom a doodle! This was my third attempt with a third groomer and my doodle now looks 100% poodle! He is gorgeous, but if I wanted a poodle I would have bought a poodle! No matter how I explain it, my doods come out looking like a lahsa apso or poodle unless I do it myself and I just don't always have the time. Any suggestions? I attached a before and after photo. I miss my wooly bear!

Oh, please pass along their info! Thanks!

OMG he's so cute, anyway!  I totally know what you mean though.  It's completely disappointing to get your dog back and not have him look the way you want.  Thank goodness it's only hair, right?  It's a disappointing change but not permanent.

I have been taking my doods to someone that I know personally...and she lets me stay there with her while she's grooming so I can answer questions (and sometimes I pitch in if there are mats!)  :-)

Keep trying and take pictures with you...ugh, I'd be so pissed.  Well, thankfully he's still super cute.

It sounds like you have a great situation! I'm not giving up yet! Grady is curled up beside me like he is cold...poor baby! Now he needs a sweater. My husband is out of town...he is going to have a heart attack when he comes home to find a poodle in a sweater!

They should make dog sweaters in assorted colors and coat types, for all the bad poodle grooms the doods get. It would act as a body wig until their coat comes in...LOL...Hey, I think I am on to something here...Patent in the a.m. LOL..P.S. A free fur muzzle cover with every sweater...act now..."DON"T POODLE MY DOODLE" ;)

Oh, you ARE on to something!! Grady will be your first customer! I can see the late night t.v. Commercial now..

Gradybug Looks Beautiful!!

Sooooo cute...and I just Love the second photo!!

What a great coat...and I just love the expression on Gradybugs face!!

You have the same problem as I do....Daisy comes back with a poodle poof 80% of the time. My new groomer did a fantastic job the first time I took her, the time before last she poofed her head and cut into her ears and made her poodle like. This past time a gave very clear instructions but forgot to say leave her beard alone, not so much poof on top but she cut her chin hair.

I am taking pictures next time. This is the first place I found that doesn't crate Daisy and she is not so nervous when we go so I really like her and am going to try ONE MORE TIME!

Take a doodle calendar and open it to the page most like your doodle's coat and 'look.'  Look on dk for a couple of pictures of doodles that look most like your doodle's coat and the look you want, save them to your computer and print them up.  Leave the photos or calendar with the groomer while they groom.  Go to the grooming group discussions that tell how to cut - I know there are some directions for the face and legs. Print up the directions and take them.  Find some people who live in your area and ask them who they take their doods to.

Perhaps you should tell the 'new' groomer that the tip totally depends upon the end result and if your dog looks like a poodle there will be NO tip and the more doodle=ish he looks the bigger the tip.
