Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey everyone! I am considering getting my 17 week old golden doodle groomed soon. Just trim around his eyes and basic areas and a nail trim. Can anyone recommend a good place that has experience with doodles in northern VA? I live in alexandria and work in arlington. I just don't want to take him to a place that is going to mess up his cute coat that he has going on right now. Thanks!!

Amber, PM me and I'll share my groomer's name and phone number. She works out of her house near Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington and will allow you to stay with your dog, if you want. She has been grooming my Paddy since he was a year old, although I continue to do most of the trimming on his face. She grooms a lot of doodles, though; it's just that Paddy is very curly and I don't want him looking like a poodle. She knows I'm particular and will allow me to use her scissors to trim up around his face and head. She is very affordable and Paddy adores her.
For my first groom, I took her to PetSmart over in Falls Church despite living closer to the Fairfax location. The reviews on yelp were muucchh better. I had a puppy pack coupon for $10. They bathed, trimmed her nails and around her face for around $15, so it was pretty much a steal. She came out looking GREAT. Note - puppy cuts for puppies 4 months and younger at PetSmart
For her second full body groom, I took her to Affectionate Pet Care in Fairfax. I had Stacey groom her and she was trimmed PERFECTLY. She knew exactly what I wanted when I mentioned that I liked the shaggy cut. A lot more expensive, but I think it's because I wanted a full body trim.
I also have a neighbor who has a doodle and goes to Bark N Bubbles and PetSmart over in Fairfax. Bark N Bubbles is more expensive than PetSmart, but he feels his doodle gets better treatment over there. Their puppy cuts are $20.
