Koda was supposed to be groomed today.  Six months ago, he was shaved down to1/2" all over cos he was badly matted during his coat change.  This time, I really thought I had made up my mind that he would not be shaved, but would be scissor-cut from his current length of 2" to 1".  After spending 10 mins explaining to the groomer how I want Koda to look (showed her pictures of some of your doodles), she frowned and explained that Koda's coat was not suitable to be scissor-cut as his hair's not frizzy like a standard poodle.  Just want to know if it matters to you if your dog is groomed using the clipper or scissors.  The reason I have for prefering scissors is I don't want the texture of his coat to change.  Does it make sense?  Anyway, we left without grooming Koda :)  He is still as unkempt as ever.

Yes. When I got Ned as a puppy that was the advice I got so I made sure that she scissored him and when we got Clancy, she assumed I wanted scissoring so that is what she did with him also. I have lots of pictures on my pages of both dogs so you can get lots of views of how they look. You may prefer a different length or 'style' but you can see what they look like on different parts of their body - all of which is scissored.
Koda's hair looks somewhat similar to Clancy's, maybe not as soft and as floppy.
I looked at your page photos and Koda looks a bit curlier and softer than Clancy but definitely not like Ned. Here are a couple of closer pics of Clancy

This one is freshly groomed - he was softer because he was so clean.
Oohh! Very soft and fluffy looking indeed... I still think Clancy looks better with dreadlocks (top picture), I LOVE dreadlocks!
That is the difference between the first day of a cut and about 6 weeks into the cut. We have only had him since the end of March so he only had the one cut, but he was sooooo soft right after his professional groom. I am partial to the dreadlocks and scruffy look also. Ned always looks a bit pouffy when we pick him up, so we squirt him. But with his ultra thick, curly hair, he can't achieve the same look as Clancy.
Buddy has a coat very similar to Koda's and he just had a scissor cut from about 7" down to 2". Worked fine on his coat. The first groomer said he had to be shaved, but I was lucky to take him to Ned's groomer (of Nancy, Ned & Clancy). He had lots of mats, too, even though I had been working on them daily (coat change). Koda is beautiful, by the way
Thanks for the reply. Could you post some pictures of Buddy, please?
Sure. Here are before and after shots.

He just looks so wonderful. I can't wait until we meet in person.
The pictures are perfect (Buddy knows how to pose for pictures. Adorable!). The after-look (the length of coat) is exactly what I want to achieve for Koda. Thanks for sharing :0)
my bailey looks like your dog! I groom him by scissor cutting him all over. I tried the clippers ( had a 12 yr old poodle i groomed for 12 years, so am very good with the clippers) they wouldn't go through Baileys silky hair, so it is easier to just scissor cut him. Good luck Bailey is 2 yrs old. see my pictures of him
