Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My labradoodle is 1 year old, I have never taken her to the groomer but have brushed her regularly with a steel comb and various other things. She has a mixed coat with parts that are fleecy but her back is coarse. Te fleecy areas are very thin and you can see her very pink skin. I was looking for recommendations on if I should take her to a groomer and what to ask for or how to better keep her thin coat. I have attached a couple of pictures!

Im not an expert but I do have 2 Doodles.  She is beautiful.  I would just continue to do whatever it is you are doing.

I think it's always a good idea to take your pup to a professional groomer at least once to get ideas on what you are doing right and what you're not. Of course you need to make sure that whoever you choose has lots of experience with Doodles. We take ours generally at the beginning of each season, just to make sure we're ready and that she doesn't have any bad tangles, etc. We always learn a lot at each time so that we keep her coat beautiful during the months between groomings.

Just my opinion!

Cheers.

Ahh, she's precious! Both my doodles have thick curly/wooly coats so I can't offer suggestions except to agree with others to keep up the brushing/combing. Also, I think it's important to get your doodle accustomed to professional grooming, starting out slowly with, for example, a shampoo and blow dry only. I started both of mine at 5 months old. Good luck!

I think she looks just great.
