The other night at about 10 when I was getting ready for bed Katie went out and rolled in something positively foul. Stinky. Like there is no way you're getting in this bed with me and the bath can't wait until morning. I usually take her to the self-service dog wash between groomings.

The problem was that I don't have a sprayer and using a cup to try to rinse first the stink and then the shampoo out of all that hair was nearly impossible.

The bathroom isn't set up to accept a handheld sprayer. But in the garage there are hot and cold spigots next to the washing machine. I could Y those two together and attach them to a sprayer. But I don't really have the real estate to put an actual doggie bath  in. And I'm happy taking her to the dog wash, it would just be for those emergency baths. I was thinking maybe putting them in a large Rubbermaid with wheels and then taking the water outside to dump after they were bathed.

I'm curious what kind of set up people have for bathing dogs at home, if you bathe your dogs at home. And possibly any better ideas than what I've come up with!

Thanks! Stacy

I bathe mine at home only. Just take them in the shower with me. But I do have a hand shower.

Right now we use a hose attachment on the shower, Depending on your tub faucet you may be able to use something like this:

Y'ing off the hot/cold faucets in your garage would work well too. We have a laundry tub in the garage and have attached a garden hose to it and washed our dogs outside in the summer.  Not so good in the winter though.

When we washed them before  we bought the shower hose we used a 1/2 tupperware pitcher for wetting and rinsing them in the tub. It worked but was pretty labor intensive.

I use my oversized tub to bathe my oversized doodle.  hehe I did get an extended dual shower head with adjustable setting.  It helps to have two people.  One holder and one bather.

I covet your oversized tub! Maybe I could take her to my parents and bathe her in their hot tub. Somehow I think someone would object to that!

They have doggy wash stations at dog pars sometimes and it is free. Maybe that would work?

uwashpuppy.com This is what I use when it's not the middle of the night and an emergent bath. I really like them and it's $11 a dog and I don't have to bend over. I'm probably over thinking this, since the whole "roll in something stinky right before bed" has only happened once in the last two years. But man, was I ever grumpy about it!

My dog had diarrhea in his crate two weeks ago because he keeps eating cat poop.we had it lock d away but he managed to crawl through the tiny door in the gate. I had to emergency bathe him in the morning, but my home stank all day and I steam cleaned everything. I can understand why this would be an issue in exceptional situations. I I know they make bathtubs for dogs https://www.amazon.com/Booster-Bath-3040-Blue-Large/dp/B005THTCYE/r...
We had the same problem. It wasn't long before spike became too big for the laundry tub. We found something very close to this. It's worked wonders! It's super handy to have for humans as well. Especially if someone can't have a full bath or shower for medical reasons you can wash hair in the sink :). Sorry for the Canadian link... but the American store will have something similar too I'm sure. https://m.bedbathandbeyond.ca/m/product/rinse-ace-sink-faucet-rinse...
I know this is not what you asked but it is a possible solution. I would put her on a leash for her night time potty breaks and make sure she just does her business and bring her right back inside. No night time sniffing sessions!

That's not a bad solution at all. I am still completely baffled by what she found to roll in. The back is pretty well maintained. But there was something stinky from somewhere and she found it!

I know what you mean!  I was speaking from experience! If there is something stinky in the area...my girl will find it and roll in it!!

I agree, too many skunks and raccoons at night. And of course poop.
