I posted this elsewhere, but I will try here...
Picture on the way...oh boy. So Timber, who is 6 1/2 months old, had her first grooming. She didn't have horrible matts or anything, but my husband has been wanting her shorter. I took her in asking for a basically about 3/4 inch off of her 3 inch coat. When I picked her up, She looked so drastically different, I am still in shock. I should have followed my gut and not taken her, or just had them do a sanitary trim and then specified scissor cutting for the face. Her face is so different, as is the shape of her head and ears. I will enjoy snuggling her super softness until it grows out some, but if someone could help me decide what to do to at least reshape her ears, to be more natural in shape, that would be great. I have scissors and trimming scissors and I am thinking about layering them some more...

You can see the ears better here.

Hi Christina.   First of all,  Timber looks very cute with her new cut!  I think they did a great job of keeping her a bit longer instead of the dreaded "shave" that some pups wind up with!   Now about the ears you want to tame.   My Bailey had the same "fly away" ears that Timber has.  I once posted about the same thing and got the tip to use thinning scissors on them to get rid of the fluffy stuff.  Since I just have regular scissors and clippers I get creative with both and blend them in with the shape of her head so the puffy look goes away.  She needs a bit of a trim in this photo but it shows the basic idea.

That is helpful, thank you! Timber's new look is growing on me, no pun intended! :-) It will grow out soon so for now U will just enjoy it for what it is. I did trim and use thinning shears on her ears and I put coconut oil in her coat as I usually do to bring the texture back. Much better!

I also use thinning shears in addition to curved scissors that you can buy on any grooming website.  That way the ears have a nice curved edge at the bottom instead of being cut straight across.
