My doodle sheds like a cat.....

thank goodness I didn't choose the breed for the non-shedding aspects.  He's an F1 with hair, not curly  or wooly at all.  His coat is very similar to a Schnauzer or a Wolfhound (which is also what I wanted) and he's so stinkin' cute I don't mind. Does your doodle shed as much as mine?  This morning after sweeping the floors I think I could have stuffed a king-sized mattress and slept like a baby with all the hair.

Jackdoodle is an F1 Labradoodle and he sheds more than any dog I have ever known, and I've fostered a dozen German Shepherds. He sheds much more than our neighbors' Labs, and it's year round. I have a friend with three Huskies, and I really think I have more shed hair around the house than she does.

Hurley doesn't shed much at all.  I brush him every night to keep up with potential matting, but there isn't much.  He occasionally will get a mat that I cannot loosen sufficiently so I have to cut it out.   Now, our two cats, they shed and they are short haired.

I brush and comb Stan every evening and this still doesn't help keep the shedding down.  I only have to brush my short-haired dog once or twice a week and this keeps his coat under control.  Thank goodness Stan seems to enjoy our grooming sessions or it would be pure (insert appropriate word here) keeping the mats from creeping up on us.  We just kinda woller on the floor and he chews on a toy while I brush and comb him.

Yes, you're very fortunate he enjoys being groomed! My cat is like that too. A crazy shedder but loves to be groomed. The problem is that after I have spent 1/2 hour brushing her I can still pet her and see hair flying off..:( It's like there is no end to it.
