Has anyone seen the new furminator brushes? They look just like the les pooch brush but are 1/4 the price. Do you think they are as good? (not that ill be buying one, I just bought a new les pooch one)

I got one. Hated it.nothing like les pooch.

good to hear! What made it different? (I have only seen them in packages)

Thie brush head is very flexible. It would distort, and bend with contact with the coat. It would distort so bad that I would have to stop and keep pushing it back before I could brush another section.

which one did you buy - they soft or the firm one?

I bought the firm one.

I have both a LesPouchs slicker brush (actually 3) and another imitation of it by MGT that costs  much less.  The imitation is flexible with bent tines on one side and straight ones on the other.  The straight side is useless on any of my dogs and one is a Springer Spaniel that only needs his ears and feathers brushed!  In my opinion the cheaper brush is okay; it is good enough if price is the most important thing; it is really good for a second brush that you carry for dog park emergencies, but it just is not as good in getting through a difficult coat as the LesPouchs. I looked at the furminator link and assume that the one you are thinking of is probably the same - good enough but not quite as good.

Dogs who shed and or dogs who have thinner coats can have a variety of brushes successfully groom them, but if you have a dog that has a more high maintenance coat, it is well worth the extra cost.

Thats my take on it too, but hadnt used the furminator or even handled it. Cooper has long thick fur, and my Les pooch works great! But they dont last forever so I wanted opinions - looks like im sticking with Les Poochs!
