Hello everyone................something so wonderful has happened and I need to share with all of you. After Bear's grooming nightmare at Petsmart the last time..........I FINALLY found a WONDERFUL groomer.

For the past few weeks I started to look for a mobile groomer, but no one called me back. So I decided to call the Barkely Hotel & Spa (which is a hotel & spa for dogs and cats; they also take the animals when you go out of town). I thought for sure it would be WAY out of my price range, but found out grooming was anywhere from $65 to $85 depending on how matted he was.

So, yesterday I took him in for his first visit and grooming experience. I received a phone about 20 minutes after we had dropped him off from the groomer. When I called back we discussed how I would like Bear to be cut. This is when she said to me...."I do not know where you had taken him before, but I he is scared to death". This may sound mean the way she said this, but she said it is the most kindest ways. She then proceeded to tell me that he was shaking on the table, urinating everywhere and they let him out to walk around to get use to the grooming area, but he just stayed in the corner shaking. I asked her if she wanted me to come and pick him up, but she said not to worry she would work with him and the best she can without stressing him out more.

Let me just say he looked GREAT and she did a wonderful job on him. She did say he started to warm up and she wan ted to see him in 5 weeks to continue working on him whether he need a cut or not.She was GREAT!!! And I am so satisfied with the way they way they were with Bear and will definitely be going there from now on.

If you all have a chance...take a look at the website........ www.thebarkleypethotel.com it is a GREAT place!!!

One piece of advce.....if you have a puppy or even an older doodle.......NEVER NEVER take them to Petsmart groomers!!!!

TI remember your first posting. Glad you found this place. Thank you Holly for this posting. I am 50 minutes from Orange, but would drive my dog anywhere so that he is comfortable and happy. Yappy Hour looks great too!
I have worked at a place where the groomer yelled and pulled at the dogs. The dogs were screaming and the ones waiting were shaking. I stayed for a while to try and teach her a better way. After a bit, I just left as the owner of the salon did not want to say anything to 'her best producer'. It's scary out there for sure. Glad you found good people. There are lots of good caring groomers out there.
Hi:
I am nott sure where you are located but I agree with you. I am in Calgary Canada and one time whenI was in PetSmart picking up supplies I walked into the grooming area just to check it out and I was not impressed. One groomer in particular was being very rough with a young dog. I shot her a nasty look and walked out. I have never been back and never will.

I did find a groomer who works out of her home and will let you stay with your dog until you are comfortable.
