Does anyone scissor cut their doodle?  Not just the face, but the entire body.  How long does this take you?

The best way to get a dog ready for grooming is just with basic training...forget the scissors. You can teach a puppy to be still..even stop wagging it's tail. I do this with clicker training. The next thing is to teach the puppy to wait in location. They should be able to wait for at least 5 to 10 minutes by 4 months. Always give your permission to stop waiting. Never let the puppy decide when the exercise is done. I have low boxes I use for location waiting as it gives the pup a better definition of space.
To teach a puppy to wait on a box, start with clicker training and reward for putting feet on the box or standing on the box. before you know it, they will be going up there on their own to get a treat. At this point you are ready to teach the wait command. Put a harness and leash on them. Put them on the box and give the wait command. Don't ask them to hold still at this stage. Each time they get off the box, replace them by lifting them with the harness. Don't touch the dog at this time or they win. As many times as they get off, put them on. You don't or shouldn't say anything. It's kind of like teaching a child to respect time out. When they are waiting on the box, give pats and treats. Try for a good 2 minutes at first and then release the dog. Decide what your release command is going to be and then you can use it for all teaching sessions. Avoid things like OK as people say it all the time.
