Well, I thought I went through everything with the groomer...wrote it all down. But she came back with owl eyes. Shaved across her nose and around her eyes. It will grow out but eessh...The rest of her looks very good, though - especially her feet. I guess it's a case of trial and error. But our baby looks so different. SIGH.

i took photos to the groomer and boze still came out with a poodle looking face. I was very disappointed. Just know you are not alone. I now groom his face myself. If he goes to a groomer it will be with strict instructions to leave his face alone!
My first groomer visit was horrible! It was my mom's christmas gift to Lola so she made an appointment at a groomer where all her dogs take their little foooofoo dogs. I was a bit skeptical of the place but decided to go with it even though I found a recommendation from someone on dk. I should have listened to my gut feeling on this one because when I came in to pick Lola up, it was horrible. I was looking in the back to see if I could see her and was thinking to myself where is she. Well she was actually laying on the floor in one of the first pens and I didn't even recognize. They did the complete opposite of what I said to do. I came in with specific instruction and a picture. on the back of the picture I wrote down what I didn't want and what I liked. I said I liked her to stay curly, no to shave her face, to keep her face round, no poodle looking cut, and to stay long. What they did was shaved her nose, made the top of the her head poofier than the rest of the body, which made her face longated, blown her dry to the point that there was not even one curl and she did not get curly until a week later after I had numerously wetted certain areas of her body, and didnt do anything with her ears. OMG I almost cried right there. I told them I did not like it and they explained she would get curly again in a couple of hours (which she didn't). Ugh I was so frastrated and mad, and thought she looked ugly. The rest of my family thought she was so cute and was mad at me for being so mad. They just don't understand that I want my dog to look like a doodle not a full poodle. They just made it worse. I will never go to My Groomer (in Houston) again.
Hi- what an experience you had! Sage is getting curly again thankfully. These groomers think they know what is best. I do think I can work with her though. The owly eyes and bare bum were the only bad things. Her body and feet were great- other than the poofy coat which will get curly again. I'm going to ask if she can air dry. The price wasn't exorbitant thankfully. If it had been a high price on top of all at that it would have added insult to injury.

Well. Sage just pulled a Marley- chewed up part of our leather chair- it can be hidden. Eessh. Puppies. Gotta love em. Zoomies now!

Thanks for your reply. It helps to know we are not alone.

Today was Willy's first visit to the groomers. I'm hopeful that he will come home still looking like Willy! He was just so shaggy and with a hot California summer coming on, he was in need of a trim. Here's a before pix taken last month. I went over exactly how I wanted him to look, and because she has taken a class about grooming doodles and has a number of Doodle regulars, I'm fairly confident I'll be happy. I'll post an after pix later today. It's going to be a long wait until I get to see him.

Willy's First hair cut. I'm very pleased with Willy's grooming. The groomer said he was a joy to groom, completley relaxed and easy to work with.I think the shorter coat really shows off his Merle coloring.

He is absolutely gorgeous! The groomer did a wonderful job. The after picture really shows off his beautiful color.
