I guess what I'm really asking is does everyone have a grooming table? Max really doesn't like to be brushed so currently I sit on the floor and try to brush him while he's eating his Kong treats to keep him occupied. Since I plan to groom him myself just wondered if this should be an early investment rather than later. i've found some excellent buys on ebay.
I wrote a review of my grooming table in our Review section. I got it as a Xmas gift 2 years ago and really enjoyed it until Rosco got too big for it. But by now he is an EASY dog to groom and will stand still on the ground as I sit on the floor or whatever. So I groom in the living room, mud room, dining room...kitchen...just about anywhere =) But I don't do a full A to Z grooming in one sitting. I may groom face one day...nails another....a few weeks later his paw pad fur trimming...a few times a year I take a week to clip him down to 1/2 inch length.
Yes I do the whole body in one sitting--but I never really get it just right until several days later ;-)
I would sell you my table, but I know that as soon as I get rid of it I'll need it!

Bella is pretty small (35-37#) - well, compared to Rozee (70-74#) - so we put Bella on a card table to groom her and it works very well. Rozee is so calm that she just stands, sits, or goes to sleep while we groom her. Both dogs gets brushed then combed every 2-3 days. Bella has the curly wool coat and Rozee has the wonderful fleece coat which means it takes nearly twice as long to go Bella as Rozee.
I definitely recommend a grooming table. I have had one for yeats for my Tibetan Terrier and had to buy a second one (large) for Koji, he outgrew Dahlai's pretty quickly. It saves your back and it makes it much easier to clip and do feet, etc. Also if you need to dry legs - it is much easier/ I often brush Koji while he is on the floor, but when I have to really spend some time grooming I put him on the table. Much easier for my back and to get to the spots that can be troublesome, under the arms, the belly, inside of leg, rump. Check out Ped Edge.com - they have good prices and are very helpful on the phone. Remember - you won't be using a table as much as a professional groomer - so you don't need to go all out. It can be a little difficult picking up the big, tall doodles :) and putting them on the table Grunt. Koji is one of them.
I do a lot of my brushing on a Costco work table. I can move it around as it is light, portable and folds down which is great as I often brush outside. I have standards and it is big enough for them to lie down and I can sit while I brush.
I do my other parts of grooming on a Canadian Tire Work bench which has a work height of 40 inches. Great for my back. Both items were under $50.
