I bit the bullet and bought (thanks for the recommendations) two Les Pooches brushes, the emergency one and the purple one as well as a bottle of Cowboy Magic. I'm hoping to save my dood from another shave!!!!

Any tips?

The matt Zapper can be quite hard on the dog's skin. Make sure you keep all the bristles of brush on the dog at one time. This prevents any of the tynes from digging in. They are sharp and I have bloodied my own fingers a few time by getting them in the way. If you are getting a lot of resistance from your dog, check and make sure the angle and pressure is correct before blaming the dog's bad behaviour. I find most of wiggling is the result of the dog being uncomfortable.

The individual tynes will bend out of place if you run the brush in any other direction but toward the handle. I have had a few inexperienced people working here and they have bent some of my brushes because they did not follow my instructions. There is a good little video on the brush on the Les Poochs site. You have to be quick to see it.

The brush is designed to use the large muscles and joints of the groomer. This saves wear and tear. Groomers often have to give up their jobs because their wrists give out with the standard way of brushing.
Thank you for the tips and sharing your professional experience/information with me. I'll watch the video and I'll be really careful w/the dog's skin. I talked in depth w/Ariana (?) at LP this morning and she too was very helpful. She said it should get the mats out; I sure hope so.
