Does your doodle like to eat the cat food? I am constantly trying to get Lucy off the table where the cat food is stationed. A lot of time she will just gulp it all up. Then, Lucy will have an upset stomach. How do you train your doodle not to go after the kitty food?

my dog is the same way but he has not touched it at all lately :) we have it on a ledge(it was how our house was made) and our dog does not eat it hooray!!!!!!!!!!:0

Oh the quest to find hiding places high enough for a non jumping cat to get his food, and to keep it away from the doodles. It has now become a game... I feed the cat a little bit of his wet food on a paper plate on the table, then when the cat is done, Willow will gently and ever so stealth like steal the paper plate and lick any reminant of cat food left. If I forget and leave the cat food can out, it's history. They love it so much. It's funny watching the dog watch the cat and trying to be so patient for the cat to finish. I sit at the desk and just snicker.

Cooper doesnt try to steal the cat food very often. Each animal has their own feeding station (I dont know what ill do when the new kitten arrives) and if she tried to steal the food while the cat was there the cats would definately have something to say about it!!!!

 

Dogs often like cat food because it is higher in protein (dry food). Wet food is stinky, so thats why they like it!

I keep the dry cat food out all the time in our utility/laundry room sink with a step stool in front on it.  The sink is deep and the dogs can't reach the food.  It has worked so far.  We are planning to build a table with the food on top with a high edge the dogs can't get over and then put the litter box underneath so that we can use the sink in the laundry room again.

I give our cats canned food once a day on paper plates and the dogs get to lick the plates after the cats are finished. The dogs wait patiently for the cats to finish so they can lick the plates and the cats don't leave very much food.
