Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey everyone. I'm picking up my 8 week old F1b Goldendoodle puppy tomorrow (so excited!) But I started thinking that his parents are different from all of the other breeders that we've been to. His mom is a standard poodle and his dad is a goldendoodle. We've been to several breeders before finding this one and all of the F1Bs were Goldendoodle moms. I know logically and genetically it shouldn't make a difference but I'm wondering why most breeders have the dad as the poodle. Of course by "most" I am only referring to my limited sample size. I would love to hear thoughts on my observation. Do any of you have doodles with the mom as the poodle? Could you post pictures? I would love to see how they look grown up and what size/how much they will weigh. Thanks!

It doesn't make any difference whether the mom or the dad is a goldendoodle, the easiest way to determine what your puppy will look like is to try to see puppies from previous litters with the same sire and dam
I think the reason that most of them have it the other way is mainly a size issue. The poodle is usually a smaller dog than the the Golden or Doodle. Having a poodle carry the heavy babies might be harder on them. At least that is the case with the mini's. Since your Mom is a standard poodle, I'm not really sure there would be a difference, just happens that that is the female that particular breeder chose for breeding. I know of a breeder in Florida that does it both ways so I don't think that one way is better than the other.
I just spent way too much time looking at pictures of Gaston-Cramer. haha. He is sooo adorable. Seriously the cutest dog I've ever seen!
