This time I don't know the answer but that's often the case. Every year around this time hundreds of hickory nuts lay in wait to break my ankles. But this year a batch of giant round green ?nuts have fallen and I see the source. I have taken photos : ) I have an idea but I'm not telling. The picture below are hickory nuts with the big guy on the upper right being Mr. Mystery. . There will be a prize for the winner. I hope she doesn't live in Canada : ) It's hard to ship certain things there.

Update
A Baker's dozen of unhulled walnuts is available for $50 plus shipping. Warning, they weigh a ton. The unhulled nuts smell like citrus.

I saw these in the water by the mill in Clinton and at first glance it looked like a bunch of tennis balls! They sure are big.

Yes. Who knew?
Okay, I remember this tree when it was young, years ago. It is at the back of my property. Since the sun comes from the southern side at all times of year although the angle changes, I decided to leave it alone since it wouldn't shade things planted in front of it. I did have the lower limbs trimmed once. I think I thought it was a sumac. Now it must be 30-40 feet tall by now but I never saw all these nuts til this year.
Update above.
I am wondering if this is now going to be a yearly thing or just every few years?
I read something about heavier crops of nuts every other year but I think it will be yearly : (
Oh no! :-(
Best pull up those saplings when you see them ;-)
Believe me I have done in hundreds, maybe thousands, over the years. : )
