After a miserably hot summer it has been really lovely for the last month or more. Today was at least a 10. The light through the fall leaves is luminous. I'm starting to put the garden to bed, which really doesn't entail much in my case. It's just a wonderful , beautiful season. Images from fall: Please share yours.
Here's the maple which may kill me if it ever falls on the bedroom but which I could never cut down.
Very lovely. Does the Sweet Autumn Clematis have any scent? Do you know what zones it likes? I am in zone 7 and have an arbor that has an early bloomer called Armandii and a summer bloomer called Duchess of Edinburgh. I would like to find a fall bloomer so I can have 3 seasons of Clematis blooms.
It does have a spicy, maybe a bit sweet scent. since there's a lot and it's near the front door it really is pleasantly fragrant. I think it should do for you, I'm in 6A. It's very easy to grow, lasts forever, and gets robust as you can see. Armandii is blue?, I think I have one somewhere. I love clematis.
Armandii is white and very fragrant. I have an evening or moon garden (which is where my Clematis arbor is). All the flowers and shrubs are white, silver, pale pink or variegated so their colors stand out in the evening and nights when the moon is bright.
I think you told me about Armandii before but...The moon garden sounds lovely. I am always pleased by how the white flowers practically light up certain areas Gertrude Jekyll and Vita Sackville-West would be proud of you.
I just love the fall season. I wish we had it here. When we were in Boston and Vermont last week it was not really in full splendor. Boston had hardly anything yet. Vermont was a bit more but they were commenting that it was an off season this year because they had the wrong combination of heat, rain and whatever else makes a beautiful fall. It was much prettier last hear. Still, not complaining. It was lovely regardless. What a lovely tree you have to look at.
I hardly rake. All the lawn areas just get mowed, mowed mowed. A little sweeping of the decks and a patio, that I never use, and bingo by spring it looks as good as the rest of the world. What falls in the planting beds stays there, too. Sometimes I'll give something a hand if it's having a hard time getting through the leaves in the spring. The worms love me!
I'm sure your fence helps also. I still have no fence--boo hoo. My neighbors, on both sides, do not rake or any fall lawn maintenance. All of our properties have at least 12 trees.
I just mow the grass super short ( which I normally do not do) so the leaves blow on down the road and mulch the rest. Some, we do have to rake.
