My mom is insane.........

You all know I love my green beans and my mom planted me my own garden this year, Well.........everyday when she comes home for lunch she runs out to the green bean patches and curses as she pulls off little green bugs and squishes between her fingers.  She calls them cucumber beetles.  She's trying to train me to chomp on them, no way, gross!  Today she's gone overboard and I don't know what to do for her I need HELP!  She went into the laundry room and brought out some Downey fabric softener she put a little in a pump sprayer and filled it with water she kept saying "the produce guy better be right, baby's suck on their cloths it's non toxic (whatever that means?) and bugs don't like the taste. Oh I hope he didn't take me for a dumb blonde."  Well I have to tell you I have the most wonderful smelling green been patch ever.  Maybe my mom isn't insane I just came back from checking my patch NO GREEN BUGS or snails.  But I'm not going to tell mom she needs to see it for herself.  If your mom squishes bugs grab the Downey for her.

This is good to know. The garden has been languishing in the heat but it's time to get active again soon, outside and online. Thanks for posting dood.

Hey Gus, does the Downey work on all kinds of garden bugs? Aphids? Did you watch your mom make the solution to see what the measurements were? If not, maybe you can follow her next time and then get back to us. Thanks for the great tip!

My mom says that she was told it changes the flavor of the plants to bugs. She just mixed a little Downey in the water to make the water smell like Downey. I'll keep everyone posted on the effects I hope it works cause I know she'll start making me eat those bugs if it doesn't. I can hear her now "You want beans? start eating those bugs!"
Oh what to do? I love my green beans.......

Well I see Gus got onto my computer! The Downey worked! When I was home for lunch Gus & I went to check the beans I only found 2 cucumber beetles. Normally at this time of day there sre so many they land on Gus and I. I know the Downey just deters them and doesn't kill them but it's not toxic. Gus is one happy dood no bug eating for him. I will try it on my roses tonight and update you all.

So where do these bugs go if not on the bean plants? Are they still hanging around in the dirt waiting to get stepped on or attaching to Gus's hair??? My Gracie Doodle is a magnet and everything sticks to her...every now and then she will come inside with a slug on her...ewwwwwwwww! I am a Princess when it comes to those things!
