In the comment section below, I posted about an anemone that F introduced me to and how it's become a favorite in the garden. Do you have any new discoveries or old favorites to share? We might just get some great ideas for our gardens for next Spring!

I'll share the anemone here again, it's a perennial and the variety is Lady Diana. I love that it is late blooming because while I have a lot of Spring color, I could use late Summer/Fall color. It has countless buds and is pretty much carefree. I have it in part sun and I had put a wire cage around it when I planted it last Fall to protect it from 8 little running paws. : ) By this Spring it outgrew the cage and held it's own! It's good in zones 5 - 9. Here's the photo:

I have one more perennial to share, a sedum variety called Angelina. I wanted something low to edge off a walkway. I had mulch there, but it would get knocked onto the walkway and wasn't ideal. I found this Angelina variety, it is a fun lime green and makes a big statement. It spread enough to fill in the area where I wanted it without being too aggressive to keep up. Occasionally I pull out a stray piece but it's easy enough to maintain. In winter, it's still there, doesn't die out. It forms a nice thick carpet, zone is 4 - 8. Oh dear ~it is Nov 10th and I just now cut my huge plate dahlias back to the ground! I disliked doing it because some of them still had flowers on them, but were hanging on the ground today.  I decided to put a couple of inches of compost over them something I have not done in the past.  I really do not like to clean out the garden too much because the birds like to sleep in the various vegetation near the foundation of the house. One of my huge ceramic pots on the patio (3 x 2.5 feet) was hit by an unusual gust of wind last week and cracked right in half - so weird.  I broke it down into 4 large pieces and turn them upside down in my flower garden for some color and protection for the birds at night.  I am curious to see if they use these make shift houses.  My garden has been in bloom from March to now and there are still roses in bloom and my passion vine is flowering. My flowering cherry tree has not begun to lose leaves so that tells me how mild and protected my garden really has been.  However trees in others areas of the yard are leafless already! We got frost this a.m., so I think it is about time for the flower to go to sleep!!

Anyone have new plants this year (2016) that they are thrilled with?  My oakleaf hydrangea is phenomenal this year!

My new plant is a Meyer lemon. I'm not sure that I am thrilled about it
I've had it about 3 months and it keeps dropping fruit. It may be to small to keep th on. Time will tell.

I've always admired that plant Anne, but always held back because of the overwintering (is that a word) issue. I'll have to live through you on this one! : )

Gorgeous Linda! As is that rose in the background! I have a few new gems that I'll have to take photos of. I've been spending a lot of time in the garden, but have been thinking of you all and had to check in!

What a beautiful tulip.  You should sell this image to the bulb catalogs.  It is much better than those I have seen in them.
