There are always unseasonal blooms. Today I found forsythia blooming. I always do have a rose or two til Thanksgiving.

And then there's the promise of things to come:

The forsythia is weird! We have a few late roses still blooming here and there in the neighborhood, and next Spring's magnolia buds are already set, but forsythia blooming? That I haven't seen!

It does tend to do that. Nothing like the spring show though. Other things like azaleas and rhododendrons have the odd bloom out of season too.
