At long last we are having some beautiful days so a friend and I made a brief trip to NYC to the Botanical Garden, which I've written about before.

This month's exhibit was Japanese Flowers. Sad to say they were all chrysanthemums (kiku) and mostly way too formallly groomed, trained for my taste. But the weather was great, the seasonal gardens themselves were all lovely.

The flowers need lots of care:

Well, you get the idea. But taking a tram ride, there are old buildings that are beautiful, there was once a HArriman estate on the property yhat urned down even before I was born:

The water lilies were lovely:

There were beautiful, small eggplants in planters. I'm guessing they were mainly ornamental.

It was a fun way to spend a few hours. I had planned to go monthly after I took out a membership in April and it only took five months for the next visit. Stay tuned, I plan to return for the November train show that I've never seen and it's said to be special. Maybe I'll even get back for the fall foliage.

Beautiful!   What a lovely way to spend a day!
Beautiful! I'm with you on the mums, but what a nice way to spend the day. The waterlilies are gorgeous, I had no idea they had so many vibrant colors.
