We have had lots of experience with raw and cracked pads, normally from running too long on pavement or gravel. These dogs are basically indoor dogs and can't take too much stress on their soft paws. When they have a scrape or crack in the pad, we clean it well with hydrogen peroxide, dry, and then put on some neosporin and a sock. They don't mind the socks at all and leave them on all night. By morning, they are usually much better. Check pads carefully every time the dogs are out because something can get stuck between the toes and can irritate the pad. This is what works for us.
