Hello doodle owners. Happy 4th of July. I was swimming with my little girl, Abby, today when I noticed her paw was bleeding. It appears she had scraped her paw pad while playing around the pool. She doesn't seem too bothered by it and it really isn't bleeding anymore.

Have any of you experienced this raw paw issue? What did you do? I cleaned it well, wrapped it in some gauze and put a sock over it. Anything else I should have done?

We have had lots of experience with raw and cracked pads, normally from running too long on pavement or gravel.  These dogs are basically indoor dogs and can't take too much stress on their soft paws.  When they have a scrape or crack in the pad, we clean it well with hydrogen peroxide, dry, and then put on some neosporin and a sock.  They don't mind the socks at all and leave them on all night. By morning, they are usually much better.  Check pads carefully every time the dogs are out because something can get stuck between the toes and can irritate the pad.  This is what works for us.

Thank you for the advice. That sounds like what I did. Of course, she isn't too happy with the sock.
