My first goal is to run/walk at least one mile everyday with my girls. They also need their fun so we will try to toss or "chuck-it" the ball a few times a week as well.

I'm in Donna....Wonderful idea this group!    Banjo's been the BEST thing for me.  I've not spent this much time outside during the winter since I was a little kid!   We do walk, ski or snowshoe daily BUT I'd like to commit to a two mile minimum.  Banjo always gets the miles in...because he's running back and forth the whole time...and I do tend to take advantage of that. Soooooooo....today we begin!

Right Carol, Never tomorrow, we're only as good as our last meal or our last walk right?  It's 9:30 CA time....I need to get out there with my girls.  I'll report back when I do.
My goal for this year to to continue the fitness that I started last year, but to be able to incorporate the Food side this year also.  So far so good.  My fitness goals are 9 hours on the treadmill per week.  My Food goals are to eat healthier and to loose 1 lb per week.  The secret for the fitness side for me is to "NEVER" allow myself to talk myself out of doing my hour.  Never say well today my foot hurts and I''m only going to do 30 mins, or I'll do it later.  I work out best 1st thing in the morning.  I really have no excuses as I am basically a stay at home Doodle Mom, so there is no reason this can't be a priority for me!  P.S.  Did my hour this morning!  Sophie said that she came into the exercise room and watched, does that count!  She likes to come in and lay on her pillow while I work out!
Wow!  Good for you! I'm with you, my food will be a huge part of my results this year. Let's start a thread or two about that too.

I used to be a gym rat but with a one year old there is just no way for me to get to the gym because there's no child care at the gym I go to.  So for me, if I were able to accomplish what I would like to do for fitness...it would likely not involve my doodle(s).  I would run (which just isn't the same with a dog...I like my hands free but I don't like leashes around my waist) alone and I would go to the gym 3 days a week to build muscle mass (since I'm naturally scrawny I need all the muscle stimulation I can get and it's good for bones and preventing osteoporosis).

So, no goals for me this year...other than walks when the weather cooperates.  But although they are nice, walks never make me feel fit...I only feel fit if I am able to challenge my body beyond walking.

Building muscle is SUPER important for we ladies whether you want to add to your shape or subtract, it's just plain good for you :)

Me too Adina, I was about 23 hours away from getting my trainer's certification when I found myself pregnant with our miracle child.  Bed-rest and 11 years later and I'm back to square one.  I still belong to a gym and have a lot of equipment here at home but if I can, I'd rather get fit with my kids and dogs.  Life is too short to waste it sweating with strangers...lol.

LOL...I am good at ignoring strangers ;-)

I know what you mean, but as a new mom any moment to myself I can squeeze in is nice.  I have always worked out better alone than even with Clark.  It's easier for me to just get into a groove if I can zone out the world and focus on the exercise.  And anyway I don't believe in spending hours in exercise...just enough to stimulate muscles and get my heart and lungs exercised.

Rosco is a slow runner...and I always feel a little bad if I take him running.  Walking doesn't do a thing for me so that doesn't work.  But maybe, once Boca is done with training she might be a good running partner...she is after all much higher energy than Rosco.

Oh yes, I remember those days with a new baby for sure. And actually, I do get better results when I can just bring my ipod to the gym and go to town on the elliptical machine. My pups are NOT good runners yet either. Their sniffers are getting really sharp and apparently lot of boy dogs run through our neighborhood....or maybe just one with a really weak bladder. I guess I can't really call it jogging but I think trying to manage two of them at the same time might just qualify for resistance training. ;-)
It's quite funny to see me running with Rosco. I'm NOT a fast runner but he trails me...he's not sniffing or distracted just unwilling to move fast unless he's chasing something in the yard--LOL!
It's funny how dogs are so much like people in that their personalities are SO different. Ginger will be a good running mate someday. She has never ending energy and is one strong girl. She actually does much better than Penny when the pace picks up. I think she gets excited about where the heck we're going in such a hurry. She is the one who needs a purpose. She's the working dog, guard dog, loyal companion type of dog. Penny is much more of a...." Ya, ya, what she said" kind of girl. She is much more interested in what she can sniff, chew, break and destroy...lol. She's in her own little world and we're not a huge part of it. Ginger is devastated if we're not thrilled with her at all times....So funny, I love them.
Well, now I am excited.....this is just what I've been needing.   I used to work with free weights 3-4 times/week and LOVED the results.   I haven't done anything like that for 5 years or so....BUT....everyday I think about it....isn't that silly....just to think about it and NOT do anything.    We're heading out now for some snow shoeing and before dinner I'm digging out the weights.    Check in later!
Go girl Go!
