Hi GRAD members! Will you please comment on the venues you use for Doggie Day Care and Boarding? I'm often out of town for business and Mike would like to take the pups to a day care while I'm away.
I'm not sure where you're coming from, but I use Four Paws Pet Resort on Leadbetter Rd (in Ashland). They do have a location in Southside as well, and I think they've opened one in Fredericksburg too. They're one of the cheapest, but I think they have the nicest facilities as well.
I have not used them for boarding but I have gone for obedience class and attend now for agility class. But All Dogs Play Skool does offer boarding and day care. The number there is355-7737. They are located in the Staples Mill and Broad St. area.
Ollie goes to All Dogs for obedience and the occasional day care romp. While it is on the pricey side, I tend to put Ollie in daycare on his obedience class nights, as the price is reduced by half on those days.
Hi Asha,
Mr. Jigs goes to Four Paws and loves it we use both south side and Ashland. Four Paws impressed me so much I use them for the my hotel Residence Inn by Marriott in Fredericksburg they pick our guest pets up and bring them back in the evening our guest love the service and makes traveling with your a pet easy and fun. The added bonus is that there afforadable and they there good to your dog.
We have used Four Paws Day Care Southside and were very satisfied with them. We have not used boarding but know people who have and they were happy with them.
Hi Asha! We take Hollywood to Hanover Your Pet doggie daycare and boarding in Mechanicsville. The boarding areas are nice and spacious with cots in each cubicle. It never stinks and I feel great about leaving her there when we have to board her. She gets to play outside all day, except 12-2 they come in for rest time/snack time. They have a huge pool that the dogs can swim in and it has a fountain in the middle of it. The dogs just LOVE the pool. Daycare is $18/day and boarding is $22/day. Hope this helps and good luck in your search.
I really was nervous about dog daycare and looked around alot. Jazz needed dog socialization as she got very attached to "people" (me and my neighbors -- haha). I took her to Diamond Dog House because they offered 1/2 day trial for FREE. (Jazz went on Saturday morning). There are other doodles that go there 2-3 times a week.
It really is a good place to test them out. If you call and talk to the owner you'll feel good about it. They are wonderful dog lovers. There is NOTHING fancy about it, but it's clean, completely supervised at all times, and they have indoor and outdoor facilites. They start the "newbies" out separated from the others (but they can see each other) to see how they do. If they're ok, they move them in with the "crowd". You can also go there anytime and just look around and talk to them. It's over by the Diamond Baseball field.
