Maggie's in Heat!

Well...here we go...it has begun!  Maggie is now in heat.  This is my first time going through this, so I'm a little nervous.  On Monday, I noticed a drop of red on my hardwood floor (thankfully not the carpet).  I was not sure if it was spilled Hawaiian punch from the kids (ya never know) or not.  So, I wiped Maggie with a tissue to check, but no blood when I did that.  So, I was thinking that maybe it really was some spilled drink.  Later than day, though, I just decided to check Maggie again with a tissue - and BINGO - blood.  So, poor girl is now wearing diapers.  I really don't find the flow that much.  There is some red on the diapers when I remove them, but really not that big of a deal.  Is that normal?  Anyway, she goes to the breeder's next week to be bred.  I hope all goes well!

Our dog Annie didn't have much bleeding, but it will likely increase with time.  I found that pull ups worked great because they could go off and on easily if needed.  I was nervous the first time around too, but found that it wasn't really too challenging.  Good luck! :)

I put minipads inside the diaper at first but have to switch to bigger ones during the second and third week--for my girl, it really increases quite bit after the first week. Good luck with the breeding and count 63 days from the first day of breeding and you will have a very good idea of her due date!
