Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello,

I have a male golden doodle that is about 21 months old. He is been very good about going potty outside and we really have not had any accidents up until very recently. For the last several nights we have woken up to find multiple surprises in our living room. The consistency is not quite diarrhea, but it is not completely solid. I am not sure what is causing this, he typically sleeps at the foot of our bed, I am considering putting him in his cage at night and closing the door (I am sure he will not like that at all).

Any advise would be appreciated.

This really does sound like either he got into something yucky (this happens with our dog who eats everything) or some kind of illness. I would add that until you have info from the vet, I'd 1) make sure you clean those spots in the living room with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the scent and 2) close the door to your bedroom at night, so you can keep an eye on your pup. Our dog will cry if there's a problem and he needs to get outside, so hopefully yours will give you some kind of indication that he has to get outside...

hopefully you figure out what the problem is soon!

Well, I'd have a fecal done to rule out any type of infection or parasite. If it comes back normal, he may just have a bug. I think it happens only at night because during the day, he has more opportunities to relieve himself and doesn't have to "hold" it for 8 hours.
