We are looking for some advice with regards to early tooth loss.  Our 3.5 year-old ALD has lost a few of her middle side teeth.  She gets Whimzees and the occasional Himalayan dog chew to chew on.  She eats petcurean GO! kibble (Fit and Free turkey and trout formula).  I had her to the vet a few months ago when I first noticed a couple of teeth missing and he said it was normal a lose a tooth here and there.  This does not seem to be here and there as there are 2 missing on one side and one missing on the other side.  The teeth are not cracked or broken nor are they worn down.  They are simply not there?!?! Has anyone experienced this?

I've never heard of this before, and there is very little related to health issues in dogs that I've never heard of, lol. I'm going to have to do some research on this.

From what I'm reading, tooth loss in a young adult dog is never "normal", and unless the teeth are knocked out, this is  usually due to periodontal disease. I would get another opinion from a different vet.

My doodle, Eli broke a tooth in his very first year (8 or 9 months) and my vet said that sometimes a dog can have "soft teeth"  and therefore he recommends "only" rubber toys.  Himilayan dog chews (that's what Eli was chewing at the time), antlers, etc. are definitely a no, no per my vet for this problem.  He showed no pain or anything when it happened.  He was pushing something around on the floor and we noticed it was a dried bloody tooth.  It appeared it happened hours earlier due to no fresh blood in his mouth.  It has been very hard for us finding enough rubber toys as Eli can get bored with them as he is a heavy chewer.  Eli is now 2.5 years old.  Hoping there is nothing more wrong with your fur baby and by now you have some answers.
