The dosage recmmendation for the Pepto Bismol seems to be very high based upon recommendations by vet in another post.  http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/healthandmedicalissues/forum/topi...

While answering a question on another forum I came across this - from my post on other forum:

http://disc.yourwebapps.com/discussion.cgi?disc=228724;article=8793...

The important part of the article is that dogs have problems digesting coated aspirin

This is another site that has dosage information:

http://dogs.thefuntimesguide.com/images/blogs/household-medications...

Dosages recommended for our 44- 50 pound dog by his dermatologist for his allergies.

Tavist (clemastine fumurate) 1.34 mg.     -   1 to  1.5 tablets twice a day

Chlortrimaton (chlorpheniramine) 4 mg.  -    2 tablets twice a day

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25 mg.       -     2 tablets 2 - 3 times a day

And Karen's specialist recommended this for 80 pound Jack:
Claritin dosage is three 10 mg tablets once per day.

just read it somewhere on the page, but wondering what the dosage for zyrtec would be?  am I missing it here?

Mary, dosage varies by weight, and different vets seem to give different dosages. Nancy's dermatologist recommended this for her 44 lb dog:

Zyrtec (certirizine) 10 mg.                       -    2 tabs twice a day

That does not mean this would be the right dosage for another 44 lb dog. It may depend on the condition being treated, as well.

Thanks
