Hello all! I finally bit the bullet and stopped lurking and joined Doodlekisses! Brewster is from the Ryobi/Fozzy breeding, born October 2008. He was initially called Dodge. He is now the big boy I…Continue

Lucy's coat grows fast too, so as difficult as it is seeing her skinny little stick legs , I know it will all be a distant memory in no time. I've decided to go back to the previous groomer, who did 500% better than this last groomer. She wasn't the best Lucy's had (her first groomer stopped grooming), but I've decided its too emotionally taxing to keep trying new groomers hoping for the perfect cut.
Becky, so I take it Sheeba's maintenance grooming sessions are just a thorough comb out, bath and blow dry? Lucy hates being brushed/combed too, but she's a perfect angel for the groomers, lifting her legs when needed, offering her paws and never complaining about being brushed. Quite a different dog than the one I groom...LOL.. I'll have to look into those maintenance grooms and see if they're affordable, otherwise I'll just make her clipping appts. closer together. I prefer Lucy cut short for grooming reasons, but like her long hair 'look' best.
Hi Everyone! I'm just learning this site & posted on here in a different thread. Just hang on a bit & I'll eventually get the hang of it.
I'm happy to have found this site. I've often wondered about Sheeba's littermates and now I will have the opportunity to get to know all about them and those who are lucky enough to have a labradoodle.
Debb~I try to have her groomed every 2 wks, there are times I wait 3-4wks when her coat is short. I find that when it's long, I need to take her in every 2 wks, if not then the groomer has a hard time when her coat is very long. I know at first when she was about 6 months old, I had to have her shaved which I hated, but her coat had become too matted. I know the groomers use a conditioner in her hair to help. I try to brush her out inbetween, but she isn't crazy about it. It's usually a game of tug of war on the brush & when I stop brushing, she lays down belly up & looks at me with a look of "come on Mom....I'm being good...brush me" LOL
I do know, Sheeba coat seems to grow back fast, it's tight curl and so soft. Good luck!
Welcome Becky and Sheeba! Good to see the group growing. Sheeba looks to have a very similar coat as Lucy's. Very dense curls. Well, at least Lucy USE to have a dense coat!
Angie - Lucy's coat has seemed to change recently and I'm not sure why. Its not the puppy to adult transition, but her hair texture in certain spots seems fluffier and finer textured (but also dense). As far as the grooming went this last time, I wasn't a happy camper. I thoroughly explained what I wanted and even gave the groomer a print out of 'The Doodle Do' for him to refer to as well as pictures, and although she came back mostly the way I wanted her, her legs were totally wrong. I like her leg hair length twice as long as her body hair length, but her legs were cut so close you can see her joints. Here's a couple pics. BTW I asked for 1/2" on her body, and its so short you can see her pink skin through it, but that's not what bugs me.
Welcome! Sheeba is beautiful!
