Debb, I tuned in on my lunch break at work.Only one other dog at that time. Were there more dogs earlier? Lucy is such a sweety. She was missing Mommy but no barking or fussing. I enjoyed watching!

Lucy is at Doggie Day Care! She's looking a little sheepish, and her tail is lower than I've seen it in some time... poor baby! She tends to be sticking closely to one of the workers there, looking for some support and security. It's early yet. Hopefully, she'll relax and enjoy herself soon.

Your new pup is a darling, Jeanne! Can't wait to hear stories of how she and Tura get on, especially in the early stages. Also, it will be interesting to hear how Tura helps to train the new one. I think we'll wait till Lucy is about 6 yrs old before considering an addition. I can see how having an established dog would be a great asset in acclimating a new pup to the 'house rules'.

Tomorrow Lucy goes for her 1st half day at doggy daycare. I'm a little scared that she may get picked on, as she's so submissive with other dogs, but she'll be one of the first to arrive in the morning so the other dogs will be coming into HER territory. Hopefully that will help. This day care has web cams so you can watch your dog while its there.

Here's the link to the web cam options: http://www.schroedersden.com/webcams.html

Check it out tomorrow morning if you happened to think of it. Lucy may either be in Play Den 1 or Play Den 2, depending on which one they assign her to. The Java mode video option works best on my computer, but yours may like ActiveX mode better. Your choice.

Jeanne, I'm so excited for you! She is the cutest little girl ever. Tura is going to use up so much energy playing with her new little sister, you wont believe it!

Well it looks like I am getting a new pup soon. Check out my page for the picture. She is a cutie. No name yet. Welcome Sandi! Since I am returning to puppy motherhood here I will be mostly sleep deprived and crazy over the next few weeks but will check in when I can. Tura has no idea what is to come....

Is anyone out there? I miss hearing updates on Lucy and Tura! Molly has become an official pack member at the dog park. It's amazing to watch dogs play freely in a group. They really develop roles and know where they stand in a group. Molly is way way down the chain of command and seems to love it there.

Is Lucy still on her puppy food? I mixed Mollys puppy food with the adult version and she doesn't like it. She will sniff at it and then turn up her nose and leave. As soon as our other dog shows an interest, she will scoot back in and gobble it down.
It is wonderful how well Lucy did at the beach! Was she interested in digging in the sand? I enjoy watching dogs zooming around on the soft sand. It must feel great to have all that open space with fun new sights and smells to research.
Molly discovered how to open our kitchen cupboards and drawers two days ago.
She made two "raids" while my kids were "watching" her on Tuesday. She pulled a ten pound bag of potatoes out the doggie door and scattered them artfully around the yard. She then grabbed a five pound sack of sugar, tore a hole in it and drug that down the center of the lawn, creating a clean white line. We now have child locks in place, a much longer walk schedual in the mornings as well as several new toys, chews and a small wading pool to keep her busy. I'm just happy she took the sugar outside before she opened it!

Hi Nancy, I didn't notice a change in Lucy's attitude after the cut. I've heard some dogs just love being shorter.

I wanted to share how Lucy did at the beach. We left Sunday and got back yesterday. We were hesitant at first to let Lucy off leash, since we'd never had her off leash in an open area before. We were afraid she go running up to a small child playing in the sand and maul them with her enthusiasm. Around 9pm we went for a walk and the beach was nearly deserted. We decided that was the perfect time to see how Lucy would do off leash. We were very pleasantly surprised to find she stuck right with us, constantly looking over her shoulder to make sure we were there behind her. Occasionally she'd go running off to greet another dog, but as long as we kept walking AWAY from her she'd come jetting back to us. After that we took her leash off whenever we went to the beach (which was about 6x a day), Tim would throw a ball for her, which she absolutely loved. It was loads of fun seeing her enjoy her freedom to run, jump and play.

On a more serious note, we had to take Lucy to a Seaside vet the first day due to an abrasion on her foot she kept licking and biting. We have no idea how she hurt her foot, but I noticed her licking it shortly after her groom last Thursday. Maybe it was burned with a hot clipper, I don't know. Anyway, we now have to soak the foot 2x day in an antiseptic solution, and put an ointment on it after. Its looking a bit better now. Also, the vet said Lucy had the beginning of an ear infection so she got some drops for that. Lucy's had a 'dirty' left ear since we got her, so I think this is something she's always had.

So, Lucy was kind of a mess this beach trip, but you wouldn't know it to watch her on the beach. Her appetite has dwindled down to almost nothing lately too. We can get her to eat a meal if we hand feed her, or throw the kibble for her to catch mid-air, otherwise she barely touches it. It may be the foot or the ear bothering her that's put her off her food, but if it continues more that a week I'm checking with my vet.
