I just love Lucy!!! I know the long coat is sooo cute, but she is still absolutely perfect. Does she seem to enjoy her new cut?

I couldn't resist posting this... Lucy asking to SHAKE.

Well, I asked for short, and I GOT short! I feel as though the groomer cut all of Lucy's character off along with all her hair. BUT, she'll be cool for the rest of summer. I loved this groomer the last time I took her, but this time, not so much. Not because of her cut, but more because she overbooked and ended up keeping Lucy for FIVE hours. I stopped by her mobile van after 3 hrs and she was working on a cat. Lucy was in a plastic kennel in her hot van on an 85 degree day. The groomer told me she wasn't done and would need another 2 hrs. I felt so bad for Lucy! She didn't charge me the full amount due to running late, but that was enough of a bad experience for me to not want to go back to her. Anyway, here's Lucy BEFORE the clip:

And here she is AFTER:

Wow Jeanne, I applaud you for having the courage to get a another doodle! I can see how it would help ease the stress of having to entertain 1 and I often think how 2 would be nice for Lucy, BUT I can also see how much more work it would be. I'm just hoping that by the time Lucy passes (many, many years down the road, God willing) I'll have forgotten how much work having a puppy was and won't think twice about getting another. Kind of like giving birth... you hope you forget the intensity of labor pains in the event you want more. You're an experienced dog owner (and a previous multiple dog owner, at that). I'm sure you won't have any trouble managing 2. You'll need to share pics and stories when you get your new dood, 'cause we'll want to hear all about him/her.

We just had a follow up visit to the vet for the skin issue...all better now. She is 43.5 at that scale so staying pretty steady. The vet doubts she'll get up to 55 lbs that Sandi thought. OK with me. He also thought you can stay on puppy food until a year or switch earlier if they are putting on weight. Tura eats half her breakfast, finishes it a lunch and has dinner so she is in between 2 and 3 feedings a day....
I am carrying treats more and practicing catching and releasing and Tura seems to be getting better at coming. Its a work in progress. We also have started looking for a second LD so Tura has a play buddy. I should have my head examined. Came close to getting one last weekend (a chocolate and white parti colored) but he sheds and Mike was allergic so it was a no go.
Off to Spokane for a visit. Have fun at the beach!!

What a beautiful beach. Sounds perfect. Thank you for doing the research on dog food. I am now mixing the last of our puppy food with adult. I groomed Macs coat with a # 4 blade on Saturday. He was thrilled when we were done, acting like a puppy for the next several hours, running circles over, under and around Molly. It must feel like peeling off heavy winter clothes and boots.

Oh, btw, Lucy didn't seem too effected by the fireworks, but then I had her crated for the night when the worst/loudest of them went off. Its been so hot this past week that Lucy and I haven't gotten out during our vet's normal business hours so I haven't had her weight checked in many weeks. This week will be cooler. My guess is she's about 45lbs.... maybe a little more. She's not overweight though, as I can easily feel her individual ribs. She's been on 2 feedings a day for several weeks now.

We just returned from an indoor dog park facility whose website said their weekly dog park 'hour' was between 5-6pm, Sundays. Once there, they told us they discontinued it due to disinterest. We were so very disappointed! Lucy really NEEDS other dogs to play with... and public dog parks seem so intimidating (to me) at Lucy's young age. So, it looks like I'll have to start taking her to half days at the local doggy daycare facility. At least there they will have a good idea of the temperaments of all the dogs.

We head off for a couple more nights at the beach with Lucy next weekend. Really looking forward to it since its been 4 months since the last visit. Staying at the same hotel as last time.

Lucy gets her 2nd professional cut this Thursday (I've decided to have her clipped to 1/2" for the remainder of the Summer). I'll post pics...

Nancy, I just did a check on the Food Group here on Doodlekisses, and the general consensus is to switch from puppy food to adult food around 6 months of age, contrary to 1 yr. the dog food companies recommend. That said, I just bought a 15lb. bag of puppy food the other day... I haven't yet opened it, so I think I'll take it and exchange it for adult food. Thanks for bringing that up. I would have just continued on with the puppy food for the next 4 months.

Ok, anxiety attack in check...Mollys rash is clearing up very nicely! How did your dogs hold up on the fourth? I didn"t realize that our dogs were home alone Sunday evening. I felt terrible for them! Molly has spent the last two nights "camping" in the back yard with the kids. She loves the bon fires and the dropped Doritos on the lawn. Come to think of it,she must not be bothered by fireworks as there are still plenty of them still going off around the neighborhood.
Tell me, do you think that it is too early to start changing over to adult dog food?
