I meant to add, Lucy can go through a 6" bully stick in about 5 minutes with her adult teeth. Use to take her a week or more. We think the b. sticks, eaten in such high concentrations, may be causing loose stools, so we're limiting them to a couple per week. A big treat for her... she knows the room they're kept in and will often sit at the door, asking for one. She does love them!

Nancy, oh, that's funny about Molly's haircut! Well, funny/ironic, given I'd commented on her hair being longer than Lucy's just the other day ... I'm sure you weren't amused. Lucy's next cut will be 3/4" on her body. The 1" cut she had is growing very fast it seems. She's going to be uncomfortable in the heat we're bound to have (IhopeIhope) sometime this Summer (before July, when she gets her next cut).

Jeanne, that's great news about Tura's retainer. Its lucky it was caught early while teeth moved easily. Lucy is constantly chewing on something (her most recent chew addition has been antlers, which she's interested in, but a little cool towards, since they're SO hard), and I can't imagine her not being able to have anything to chew at all. Tura must have been going nuts with the frustration! You'll have to get her lots of new chewies for having accomplished such a monumental task.

I won't be getting Lucy weighed this week. I like to wait a couple weeks, but we have noticed she's looking bigger. It may be the blow dry I gave her after her bath this week, but her body is looking bigger. She stands 21" at the shoulder now.

Maggie is the name of the small dog. Look on the Labradoodledoo website in the gallery section she is there! She belongs to family of Sandi. The dentist doesn't worry about Turas teeth shifting back?

We went to the dentist again yesterday and Tura is 41 lbs. I don't know if his scale is correct or if she is really gaining 3 lbs a week...
Anyway, the good news is she will get the "retainer" off June 2 next Wednesday, 3 weeks early as her teeth have moved into position. He said if she was a year older it would take a lot longer to move the teeth but since she is young they move easily. Yea! Because she can't have so many toys she has really gotten into anything she can chew on, socks, paper products anything she can find so I will be glad when the thing comes off her teeth! Tura and Molly and Lucy and Hudson look so much alike, its amazing, isn't it? I am surprised that a Ryobi/Fonzi pup is just 30 lbs....How did we get such big ones?

Came home from work yesterday to find that poor Molly had been scalped! Her coat can't be 1/2 inch in length everywhere but her head and neck. Oh my.....One of my dear, sweet, helpful adoptive sons was over working on our Koi pond when Molly slid in for a swim. This lead to a warm bath and then.. to a grooming. He is really very good at this and I am so blessed for all the help. I am happy however that he left her face and head to me. I may put up pictures if I get the nerve. Her legs are sooo long! Where did my fluffy dog go? :]

Sweet Molly pics! Thanks, Nancy, for posting them. Molly's hair looks longer than Lucy's is currently. I miss Lucy's long hair, but she's already scheduled for another clipping in July, so the long hair will just have to wait till Winter. I'm not looking forward to the coat change that starts sometime in the next few months, either. With Lucy's short coat she has had 0 mats... actually, with her long coat she only had one small tangle near her rear section. Not even a mat, really. She just doesn't seem to have the hair type that mats easily. Lucky me.

Man, I hear ya on the weather! I bundled up like it was Winter last night to take Lucy for a walk. We could see our breath! Hopefully June will be a bit warmer :)

I ran into another Ryobi Fonzi Labradoodle today. She is a lovely deep cream/tan with a beautiful loose wool coat. She's about two years old and weighs 30 lbs. She has been in service training for a long time and has an excellent calm, friendly temperment. Mom also showed me a debit card that her dog had punched several deep holes into this morning. :]

Lucy weighed 40.4 lbs as of last Thursday. Intermediate class is coming along. I've found with her reaching adolescence I've had to increase her training. Lots and lots of repetitions. We're working on tricks in addition to all the other things, including the 3 D's with STAY (distance, duration and distractions - No, that's not a trick..). Lucy can give a hand shake now and SPEAK (which may not have been the best idea to have taught her, but I wanted to also teach her how to HUSH, which we're working on). In class Lucy is either really, really good and attentive, or completely distracted and unfocused. No in-between with her. She does know the commands and has the ability to complete them satisfactorily, but depending on her mood she either chooses to listen or not. A lot of that is all the distractions at the store with strange dogs, people and smells in virtually every part of the store. But some of it is that teenage stubbornness too. I have also learned that if I go into the class with a calm assertive attitude we can get a whole lot more done in less time (and my frustration level is kept to a minimum). But I do have to make a conscious effort of it. I love that the class is so small and I get loads of trainer tips while working with Lucy. Lots of helpful stuff to use every day in common situations.

So far, no more sign of the kittens.

Lucy too has been a maniac lately. ALWAYS looking for something she can't have. I just pulled my husband's shirt out of her mouth that had been slung over the upstairs banister for dry cleaning. She has LOADS of toys of every kind, but she prefers those personal off-limit items. She didn't get exercise yesterday due to the storm, and I think that makes a big difference in her naughty vs. nice behavior. The more tired I can get her the better minded she is. Tim always says what a good puppy she is when she's fast asleep :)

Jeanne, I keep the swing-top type waste bins in the study and laundry rooms. Never had a problem with Lucy raiding those. Also, good luck with re-training Tura to sleep in her crate after her early morning potty break. That would be a tall order here with some of the things Lucy has become accustomed to. I don't envy you.

I would say Lucy can hold her urine about the same as Tura. She's constantly amazing me how long she can hold it during the day too (although I will admit I found she'd peed on the area rug next to the patio door yesterday....)

The kittens and momma cat are gone. They disappeared the following day. There's no organization that will come and trap the cats either. One can give instructions on how to build a trap, but that's it. In addition to rescue organizations here, there's also a feral cat sterilization program that neuters/spays feral cats free of charge for re-release back to where they came from, but they won't come and get the cats either. If I could catch the kittens without a trap I would. I do believe they're old enough to be weaned. From all I've read feral kittens can be socialized to humans most easily between 6-7 weeks of age. It becomes more difficult every week after that. I'll keep my eyes peeled for them (or rather my parrots will... they're the ones who alerted me to the kittens in the first place, being the sentinel birds they are).
