By popular demand there are new pictures up. One with a short haircut, one after she found a ball of yarn :-( , one this morning and one of her mouth. In that one, you can see a lot of pink, which is plastic covering most of her teeth in the front if her mouth. It is hard to see what is going on but the angles of it must be forcing her teeth into the proper position. We hear a lot of crunching. Her weight at the DDS was 35 lbs but I think that scale is off.

I walked Lucy over to the vet yesterday to get her monthly Sentinel tablet (free samples until she reaches 50#) and to get her weighed. She's now 39.3 lbs, and 20-1/2" tall. Her height hasn't changed in weeks, so the weight is due to filling out.

Hey Jeanne, I'd love to see a pic of Tura's appliance in her mouth. Also, I check your page often for new pics... but sadly, nothing new lately. I need a sibling pic fix. (I guess I should head over there now and see if there's anything I've missed...) You too, Nancy and Angie..

Don't you just LOVE your girls? Even when they are just sooo naughty. I just feel this overwhelming joy when Molly wags her tail with happiness or is leaning into me for a hug.

There's nothing worse than trying to catch a dog that doesn't want to be caught. I hope she didn't hurt herself. How aggravating! The other day I spent 10 minutes paying bills and then thought, I wonder where Tura is...(you can see where this is going). She had chewed off 8 inches of fringe from an antique oriental rug in our living room that was my Grandmothers..it is/was very valuable. Ugh.
We had the dental "appliance " put on yesterday. She was pretty out of it and bothered by the thing last night so she slept in our room. I took the hood off this morning and so far she is leaving it alone but I can tell she is bothered...lots of faces, yawning and crunching going on. 6 weeks and counting.

Oh, that's funny, Nancy! Well, except the part about you having bronchitis. I hope you're feeling better today. Molly had made her mind up exactly what she believed she needed and she was going to get it regardless what anyone else thought. Lucy has the same kind of mind. Over the weekend (Sunday, specifically), Lucy had overdone it on one of her front legs. We had gone for a good walk in the neighborhood and when we got home we thought she was well worn out. We went to relax in the backyard after the walk and Lucy got the zoomies really bad. Back and forth from one side of the yard to the other, pivoting sharply at each turn. We were really surprised by her excess energy, but didn't think any more of it. The next day she came out of her crate limping badly. Throughout the day it would look better, but whenever she'd be in her crate for a while she always came out limping more than when she went in. I wanted to give it a day and see if it was better by Tuesday. Thankfully it was, but I was ready to take her to the vet. Anyway, she went for a walk and got more of the zoomies outside yesterday and today she's fine, so she didn't aggravate the leg. You know, there's just so much you can do to prevent that kind of thing. Dogs will be dogs.

Stayed home from work with bronchitis yesterday. Opened the front door and out shot Molly full speed ahead...We spent 30 minutes together {me barefooted, sweat pants and flannel night shirt] at the neighborhood park two doors down from our house. Molly would not let me get closer than ten feet from her. She ran free and wild, zooming circles in the grass...chasing birds and moths...The vet told us not to let her off leash for another week but I guess Molly just could not take it another minute. I made myself comfortable on a picnic table and enjoyed the show. When she was all run out she came and sat next to me as if to say " I'm ready to go home now".

Hi Jeanne,

Good to have you back. I was wondering about Tura's braces/retainer and how she was doing with them. Didn't realize she didn't have them yet. You'll have to let us know how she fares with it.

We have a DIY dog wash down the street from us, but with the washing/drying set up we have in the upstairs bathroom, I don't see any need for it. When/if my daughter and I decide to do the clipper cut ourselves (she's a stylist and very comfortable with clippers) we'll try the DIY place. As it looks right now, 3 cuts a year should probably do it, and for the time being having it professionally done will suffice. I want my daughter to get a good feel for the right doodle 'look' too before we take that next step, so we'll have to get a few prof. cuts under our belts. The face looks to be the hardest, as I can see so much detail in what the groomer did to get that perfect look. That may take some studying to get right.

Good to know about the age thing with agility training. We have a facility nearby that teaches puppy agility with low-impact obstacles. Looks like that's the route we'll go until Lucy matures.

Hi everyone, I'm back after 12 days in Spokane. I see Lucy has a new do and Molly got her cast off. A few more weeks in the crate? ugh. I take Tura in on Tuesday for her procedure to have the retainer put in. Ugh again. But we will all survive it.
I went to a do it yourself dog wash place today for info and they will walk you through using the tools for grooming and I may try it myself sometime....but with the short haircut she got last month, all she needs is a bath. So Monday we will go in for that.
She did great in Spokane and traveling but didn't like peeing on the patio concrete so we had to go out to the shared lawn areas of the condo. I was out there in my PJ's at 5am so there you go.
I was reading all the news and wanted to tell Debb that when I took my golden a few years ago for agility training, they had a year old minimum to protect the dogs developing bones. Just a FYI. Agility was a great bonding experience and a lot of fun too. You will really love it.
Glad to be home and getting in the old routine. Sorry I didn't make it down to Portland.

Nancy, Tim is warming up to Lucy's new cut. Before he saw her he told me on the phone there's not a single doodle cut he's liked that he's seen. Well, he liked that the groomer did a great job of preserving her cute face and yesterday he even said he liked her body coat length, so looks like its growing on him.

There are only 2 things I'd change the next time I have this cut done again. I took along professional groomer tips for 'The doodle do', and I had specified a 2" hair length on the legs. That wasn't done. Lucy was cut to 1" on body AND legs. The other thing was the stinky cologne she used. Yuck! It smells like men's cologne. I have several favorite colognes I use regularly on Lucy and I'll take one with me the next time I see go. Other than those 2 things I'm quite happy with the results. We'll see how she washes up with her new do, but I have a feeling it will be a breeze.
