BTW, I've posted new pictures of Lucy on my page. They're from over a week ago, but the most current.

I also wanted to share a fix to Lucy's jumping up on counters (front paws only!). This fix was only used ONE time and has lasted for weeks thus far (no jumping since). I placed a good handful of pennies into an empty Altoids tin, and waited for Lucy to jump up on the counter (it wasn't a long wait). I rattled that tin like there was no tomorrow, behind my back. It scared Lucy so bad she went running with her tail between her legs! That was the end of her jumping. Now if we could just have that Altoids tin with us every moment to keep her from jumping up on us, we'd have it made.

Here's a taste of puppy romp yesterday. I have other new videos on my page.

Hi Nancy,

It was okay. All the other doodles were adults and we discovered she's just not old enough to romp with the big guys... However, she DID enjoy herself after a while and ran around. She just didn't like the big doods grabbing onto her. On the bright side, she had GREAT fun yesterday at her weekly puppy romp at Schroeder's Den in Hillsboro. I'm uploading videos of that right now. She prefers to play with puppies half her size. She has such a gentle, playful spirit. Everybody loves Lucy everywhere we go... :)

Debb, How was the doodle romp? Did Lucy have fun?

We trimmed Molly with a # 4 blade a few weeks ago. This left her coat about 3/4 inch in length. Her coat is curly/lamb like without mats. I miss the soft fluffball look of your babies but I seem to have a Junior Mud Wrestler on my hands. With this shorter doo Molly looks less like a dirty Qtip and more like a young lady. Thank you for the wt calculations! Part of me doesn't want her to grow so fast, but its exciting to guess her future size.

I just looked did a search for a weight formula and found one that says the dog is half its weight at 4 months, +/- 5lbs. Its hard to find a formula specifically for a standard labradoodle, though, and even more specifically, for an F1B labradoodle.

Oh, btw, on our walk today we stopped in to the vet's office (he's just a block away) and got Lucy weighed. She's now 28-1/2lbs. Lighter than I thought. She's about 18-1/2" tall at the shoulder. Her hair is almost 2" long and she looks much bigger than she really is. Everyone we meet thinks she will be a big bruiser of a dog, but isn't there a mature weight formula for standard labradoodles? Something like the dog is half its weight at 4-1/2 months? Or is it, half its weight at 4-1/2 months plus 10lbs? I don't know. She might end up bigger than we thought.

Hi Jeanne,

First off, Tura is adorable with her festive scarf. Love the green!

I have 2 Les Pooch brushes, the green one for everyday and the mat zapper. (Kemp from this site helped me pick out the right brush for Lucy). I love the everyday brush (I can't say that Lucy loves it though:(). It makes her so fluffy looking, every time I use it Tim thinks I've given Lucy a bath. We haven't had any mats so far, but I don't know if that's due to the brush or her hair type. There's a special way you're suppose to brush to prevent mats (by parting the hair and brushing from the skin, working your way slowly through all the hair), and I haven't had to do that yet. I just run the brush over her coat. You'd think with as curly of hair as she has she'd be one big bundle of mats, but not so. (OMG, she has the zoomies right now and is running up and down the stairs... being a crazy dog!) Yes, the brushes are very expensive and I think a bit over priced (seems a lot of money went into the packaging), but still an invaluable tool. They have a flex to them that 'gives', making brushing very easy. And they're 2 sided which is nice. We haven't used the mat zapper yet.

I want to get Lucy trimmed before Summer because she'll be too hot otherwise, but I'm in no big hurry. I have the name of a mobile groomer my vet recommends, although I don't have a clue if he's good with labradoodles. I DO NOT want a poodle cut!

I was wondering if you have tried the Les Pooch comb and what you think. Tura had her first haircut today and despite my efforts she had mats. Even now when I comb her inside legs I am finding mats the groomer didn't get. She spent over an hour just combing her :-(
The combs are so expensive. Do they work? And which one to get? Any feedback would be helpful. Also, I put her St Paddy's Day pic up.
