Hello all! I finally bit the bullet and stopped lurking and joined Doodlekisses! Brewster is from the Ryobi/Fozzy breeding, born October 2008. He was initially called Dodge. He is now the big boy I…Continue

Hi everyone! I've posted new pictures of Oscar, as well as videos of his 1st Puppy Romp with other pups his own age. Check them out :)
In case you missed them, I've got some new pics of Oscar on my page. Also, a video of Lucy and Oscar together. Oscar is super smart and already knows 'sit', 'down', and 'come'. He's still learning his name, however. He's a hearty eater and weighed a whopping 12.8lbs last week at his 1st vet visit. He was bigger than Lucy was at his age. Really makes me wonder how 'small' he really will be. Potty training isn't going as smoothly as Lucy's did, but we did have an accident free Saturday (but 2 pee accidents yesterday), and so far none today. I've taken to setting the timer so I don't forget to get him out before the 50 minute mark. He's sleeping really well, and does well in his crate, as long as he's sleepy! He only had 1 pee accident in his crate and that was on day 2 when he was just getting use to his new home. None since. So far, I haven't noticed him being any easier as far as the work goes, and Lucy only seems to be teaching him how she likes to play. She is so gentle and caring with him, though. She will offer him her favorite toys and will even drop treats for him. I really do think she loves him. I do wish she could just be calm and relaxed when she's hanging out with Oscar and Tim while he watches TV from the bed. She's always right there in Oscar's face, inciting him to play with her, which he is happy to oblige. Then a jumping and maneuvering escapade ensues on the bed and Lucy inevitably ends up shut out in the hall. It is still technically still week 1, so hopefully every one will settle down soon. Here's my favorite picture I took of Oscar:
Welcome to little Oscar!!! So very cute! I know that Lucy will love him (and so will you) and show him how to behave like a proper little gentleman in no time!
I envy all your puppy hugs! Enjoy!
Okay everyone, its official. We will become the proud owner of one of Sandi's latest pups early next month! After doing some exhaustive research on doodle pups throughout the area, and worrying about the reputations of the breeders and whether they bred truly great temperaments, Sandi brought to my attention that she had one small male in her litter and didn't think he'd get larger than 40lbs. Which isn't much over the weight range we were considering. So, knowing how great Lucy turned out, we went with a known quantity. Here's little Oscar:
Angie, thanks for the insight into having 2 doodles! I think we'll be ready for another doodle sometime within the next 2 yrs. I would guess no earlier than next Spring (I will NOT do potty training in the Winter ever again!). There's so much mental preparation to do when planning for a new pup, this hasn't been something we've considered at all in the near future (even though we said at some point we'd want another doodle). I moseyed over to your page and had forgotten Lilly was black. She's gorgeous (and she makes a great pairing with handsome Hudson). We would prefer a different color too. I've always been attracted to the parti colors, light and dark, so I'll start looking around at what's available locally, now and in future litters. We'd really prefer a medium size. It just makes sense that a smaller dog would be easier all around (grooming, transporting, lifting, feeding, sleeping with). And Lucy LOVES smaller dogs. She was timid in her puppy socialization classes, so they put her in with smaller dogs. She's loved smaller dogs ever since. She's extremely gentle with little dogs too, she never pounces on them or connects with biting. Its all about 'crockadoodling' with her (that open-mouthed play biting doodles do aimed at the other's face) and play bowing. If she can figure out how to make a game out of anything, she will, so I have no doubt she'd be an exceptional playmate for a 2nd doodle pup. We just need some time to get our minds wrapped around the idea. The seed's been planted, though ;)
Those puppies are so cute! I do have to say Debb, that 2 Doodles are definitely better than 1! Hudson has an old soul (old man :) personality, and I think Lily will help to keep him young. They really love one another and get along great. Caring for two isn't much more than one. The bed is a bit more crowded though.... (They both sleep with us :) Lily is a standard, but she is small- more of a medium size. Surprisingly she takes up the most room in the bed. She always lays on her back with her legs up in the air or all sprawled out. Hudson is larger, but he curls up his whole body into a ball when he sleeps. BTW, Hudson was almost 3 when we got Lily.....:)
The funny thing is, Sandi, we just took down the baby gates a month or so ago (I know, Lucy is almost 3!), and I've been thinking how nice it is to have a normal house, without the very real possibility of tripping and breaking my head open. Actually, we talked about it tonight, thinking 'what if' we got another doodle the same size as Lucy, and although it would be great for Lucy to have a play buddy, we really aren't in a position to have the responsibility and commitment to another dog. Our lives feel complete with Lucy alone. That said, I've always thought we should get another doodle sometime down the road while Lucy is still young enough to enjoy one. Tonight we agreed to wait till Lucy is 5, and then to think about getting a medium-sized labradoodle. That way it will be on the radar and we'll have given it plenty of thought beforehand (plus, the smaller size would make a huge difference in the logistics of caring for another dog). So, that's where we are. Those pups look awfully (painfully) tempting, but its only because we know how wonderful Lucy has been for us. Puppies will be just as cute 2 yrs from now, and maybe we'll be ready then.
Oh my gosh! They are so cute!! Debb, you should think about adding another one. The second dog is always so much easier than the first. Lucy would train her new little brother. He'd just step in line!
I once read "Having one dog is great, having two dogs is much more than great, and having three dogs is like having seven!" I've found this to be very true:)
I just clicked on the Labradoodledoo link to make sure it worked, and Sandi had just posted new pics of the pups (within the past 10 minutes). Gosh they're cute!
