Debb- I posted a bunch of pics on my page- My husband told me that we had sent Sandi a deposit when we knew she was going to breed them for the last time- we actually were going to get a puppy from the previous litter but wanted to wait another 6 months and be sure we got a female.  Your right though- it all worked out in the end!

Kristin, I'd love to see that picture of both Delilah and Lucy together. Its interesting that you had 1st pick, when we were suppose to have 1st pick. I was never told there were any pups taken (other than the 1 that Sandi chose). Maybe because Sandi knew the pups I was interested in she let you go ahead 1st. That doesn't make sense either, though, since Lucy was on our radar. Its kind of disturbing to think about, even though in the end it made absolutely NO difference, since we ended up changing our minds anyway. Whatever happened, I've gotta think it was all fate that brought Lucy to us.

Debb- we must have beeb 1st pick, our photo's were from Nov 25th.  I kind of remember that Sandi made her choice earlier that morning.  It was between Delilah and another puppy.  She knew we wanted a female (since we already had a male).  I should email you the photo's of Delilah and Lucy right next to each other in my husbands arms.  Lucy was quite a bit larger than Delilah at that time, interesting that they are within just a few pounds of each other now.  I remember checking back on Sandi's website looking at Lucy- feeling bad that she was still available- hoping someone would choose her.  Sounds like she ended up with the perfect family who adore her- so I'm happy!  Delilah also likes to sneak food from the counter if the kids leave it out.  Samson seems like he is part human- he just gives her a look like "what do you think you are doing"  My husband half joking says when Samson looks back at you - he is truly looking at you and you can see his mind working, Delilah- just has the word ball running on a constant loop in her head and nothing else is there!  We always say- thank goodness she is cute.  I'm sure she's not that bad, it's just that Samson is so good and always has been- even as a puppy.  He was already potty trained when he came come- Delilah still has accidents (although I know now the recent ones have been from her medication which makes her drink more).

Really, REALLY, the last thing... I just went through the Waiting for New Puppies group and found a post regarding our 1st visit to Sandi's. It was on Fri., Nov. 27th, 2009. That was the day after Thanksgiving that year.

One last thing... Kristin... I'm dying to see pictures of Delilah... I've sent a friend request to you so I can check out your pictures on your page if you have any.

Oh, BTW, it makes me wonder how many people considered Lucy around that same time period (3 weeks) and passed on her due to her squirminess (is that a word? lol..). At the 5 week visit I was amazed that such a beautiful puppy was still available, and I was SO happy she liked us during that visit. She really turned out to be the best dog (for us anyway).

Oh yes, tissues, paper towels... any paper, really. We have to be diligent about keeping paper out of Lucy's reach. Even a newspaper, still in the plastic bag is fair game for Lucy if its left on the floor.

Kristin - I think maybe you actually visited Sandi within a day (if not the SAME day) of our 1st visit. I think I recall Sandi mentioning you coming in from Las Vegas, and that was the reason why we had to make our pick when we did. I tried to get it pushed out because I felt 3 weeks was just too early to pick out a puppy. Turns out I was right.

Lucy is now around 50lbs. Maybe a tad over. She fluctuates a few pounds up and down, but since turning 2 she's filled out some. She's not a real tall dog either. Sandi had originally thought she'd be 60lbs. She was off by 10.

I think tissues are a main food group for my Tura. Does Lucy eat it too? bTW, Tura is around 50 something pounds.

Debb- So funny that you say that about Lucy being squirmy- that was another reason my daughter wanted Delilah- she just laid in her arms and was very content and the kids were upset that Lucy kept trying to get away and they didn't think she liked them!  I'm curious how big she is?  My husband had really wanted Lucy because he thought she would be closer in size to Samson (65lbs), Delilah is about 45lbs- she is pretty small.  I believe we had 2nd pick.  We had driven up for Thanksgiving break from Vegas- we had picked Samson over the phone and had surprised the kids with him right before Christmas the prior year so we really wanted them to be involved in the selection process the 2nd time around.  Samson is a perfect dog, he has done some work in nursing homes.  Delilah, not so much.  She still gets in the trash and pulls out tissues, and has to remain in her crate when we are not home because she can't be trusted alone!  She's a stinker!

Kristin- That's funny about your choosing between Lucy and Deliliah. We had 1st pick of the litter, and went to make our choice when the pups were 3 wks old. It was between Lucy (Tzatziki) and Lassi (I'm hoping that was his breeder-given name, because I've subconscienciously forgotten it). While holding Tzatziki, my husband said, "Tzatziki doesn't like me." She was squirming the entire time each of us held her. In hindsight, she just wanted to get back to Ryobi, who was making her rounds with us while we held the pups. Apparently, Tzatziki was hungry. Anyway, we decided that day on Lassi, who was a very mellow pup... no squirming whatsoever. When we went to visit again 2 weeks later, I made a connection with Lucy, who was a totally different pup by then. Very outgoing and engaging. On the way home we made the gut-wrenching decision to change our pick. Luckily, Tzatziki hadn't been chosen after all the picks had been made. To this day I tease my husband (who is absolutely crazy about Lucy, and vice versa) with the words, 'Tzatziki doesn't like me'. Lassi was chosen by someone a couple weeks later. I really wish they'd show up here and let me know what kind of doodle he turned out to be. I am very curious. I'm sure he's a laid back dood.
