Sorry I haven't responded sooner. We do have quite the collection of handsome Doodles. We are working on a few folks in this area, also. When the weather gets a bit warmer, maybe we all could head that way for a short romp on the beach. The closest beach here is St. Simons and that would be too far for everyone there. Tybee does not allow any pets on the beach at anytime. We are working on that.

Guinness had a hard time with his event. Hope Tucker fairs better. Are you or anyone aware of someone wanting to re-home a Doodle? We have a family here looking to adopt one.

I have met so many doodles on the beach! It's amazing how many there are on the island, I've tried to get them to join the group, but obviously not happening, I'll try to collect e mails next time I meet others. There are two new girls in my plantation of Long Cove Club. they are sisters from a litter in Columbia. (Lulu and Gracy). I'm working on them, but they're only 8 wks. now.

Tucker became Tucker-Lite today. these little boys all have to go thru this but he is so miserable it is breaking my heart, In two weeks the stitches come out and then we're back to the beach and the dog park with his buddies.

Welcome Carol and Elaine. We have not been successful in finding any romps in this area. Seems Doodles are not common. We were hoping to attract some Doodle families with this group so we could organize some events. Any ideas?

We live on Hilton Head island with our 5 month old mini golden doodle Tucker. He's just getting acc;imated to the beach so don't have him off leash yet, but had our yellow lab off leash on the beach for many years. If you have a dog in voice control, there are many hours during the day when the beaches are empty. Until they are really old enough to listen well and ignore other dogs, I wouldn't let them loose, but they do love the beach!

I have met ;many many other doodles on our beach walks! Maybe we'll see you there one day.

There certainy is reason to be very careful of the alligators, but common sense will keep them safe.

I think a low-country romp would be great. How do we get it done?

We moved to Bluffton from Utah in February 2008. My husband lived most of his life in Charleston so for him it was moving back home. We love living here with our Doodle Tanner. We have a wonderful trainer in the area and so far Tanner has taken water rescue classes and agility which is is in right now.
Does anyone know if there are any doodle romps in the area?

Welcome Kara and Family,

Bluffton is a beautiful area. We moved from the Baltimore area and live just outside of Savannah and in the woods. Yes, there are alligators and snakes, but unless you are in the wilds, you should not have a problem, especially if you have a fenced yard. The poisonous snakes tend to stay away from built up and residential areas. The alligators are usually in the swamps, ponds, lakes and the rivers. We take our Guinness, a chocolate Labradoodle, swimming at the local boat ramp on the Ogeechee River. We keep him on a leash when in the water and watch him and the area very closely. Like the snakes, the gators tend to stay away from people unless they get very hungry. We have not had a problem as of yet, but we have been cautious when the environment requires it. Use common sense.

There are several beaches close to you that are dog friendly. Here is a link to the ones on Hilton Head:

We take Guinness to Jekyll Island since it is closer to us. All require a leash and some have restrictions to the times one can bring their dog, usually according to the season.

Hello!
My family is relocating from Philadelphia to Bluffton with our Standard Poodle (Lily, 10 yrs) and Golden/Labradoodle Cooper (6 mos). We're looking for dog-friendly parks and beach access in the area, if anyone has any ideas let me know. Also, we've heard multiple horror stories from our soon-to-be neighbors about wildlife like alligators and snakes and the 'interactions' their dogs have had with them. With Lily getting up there in years and not being as fast as she used to be, and Cooper being the inquisitive puppy he is, do you have any suggestions for how to avoid any dangerous situations? We don't have alligators in PA, so they are all new to us! Thanks!

We share our home with a wonderful Labradoodle by the name of Guinness. He loves Doodle Romps and we have attended several in the Mid-Atlantic region. We want to extend the opportunity for Doodle owners in the Low Country area to share their experiences and possibly meet at times to let the Doodles share their 'tails".
