Comment by Jordan & Daisy on April 15, 2014 at 4:33pm: Hello all! We are taking a trip to Old Orchard Beach in August and I am wondering if anyone knows anything cool to do with our doodle while we are up there other than the beach? i.e. parks, nature trails, hikes, etc? Thanks a bunch!

I am originally from Maine, and Murphy's grandparents still live in the Lewiston and Portland areas. We would love to have vacation romps! We can never find one in Connecticut, our new home.

Comment by Kim on December 31, 2010 at 2:30am: Thanks for the info Nancy. It's very cute from the turnpike with all of the paws painted on the building. We actually took the advice of someone else on this site and brought Allie to Camp Bow Wow in Portland. She loves it there, and we can watch her on the webcam. The only thing I don't like is that they have no Staff on the overnight shift for the boarders, so we stay in a pet friendly hotel and drop her off at daycare in the morning! We have been there on 2 separate trips now, and will be there in 2 weeks as well.

I know a place in South Portland called Dances With Dogs puppy daycare school. The pack leader is Julie Bernier and we took Coco there until she got too big to go anymore. We loved it there so if you are in need of a wonderful place for your puppy to spend time, this is the place!

I just joined Maine Doodles so I know this is most likely too late for you, but the place you see off the turnpike is Paw-zn Around. It's a daycare,playgroup,grooming ,boarding place and I have heard great things about it. We are going to start our Coco there in the next few weeks for some playgroup fun. Hope you had a great visit to Maine!

Comment by Kim on June 15, 2010 at 8:22am: Hi Mainers!!! We are planning a vacation to the Scarborough / Portland / Gorham area in August. We are bringing Allie (of course), but we are planning one or two day trips where we could possibly be gone longer than I would be comfortable leaving Allie alone. I have 2 questions. Could any of you recommend a doggie daycare within a reasonable distance? Also - I'm just curious, I have been googling and googling (forgetting about this group). On our way back home from Maine to NY, we go by a HUGE facility with dog paws all over the back wall near Saco (I think), what is this?
