Curious if this phenomenon occurs more frequently with mini's and mediums........

My dog has excellent digestion, but she is on Evo kibble and I alternate that with a raw meat/ veggie mixture from OMA. She doesn't have any corn or wheat products, not even in her cookies, and never any rawhide. So, that may be why she has no problem.
So far Max has excellent digestion. Got him at 8 wks, now 13 wks. Kept him on same food that breeder fed - Life's Abundance, order online at HealthyPetNet. It has no corn/corn gluten, no wheat/wheat gluten. I'm also careful about snacks and he gets raw carrots, broccoli and organic peanut butter. I agree with Ginny, stay away from corn & wheat, see if this helps.
Hi Sandy...No corn..no wheat ..no raw hide in this boys diet.....Yogurt and dried chicken breast for snacks and once in a while some PB in the Kong...
Hmm, just figured out that the raw hide was causing my medium Kona to go out and eat grass because
her tummy was upset! My big boy has no problem, I won't be giving it to my girl anymore.
My boy can't eat chicken or beef, but doesn't have any problems with salmon or venison, and those are the treats that I stick with...BUT can Cooper clear a room when he has gotten something he shouldn't have!!!! UGH.....
My Ranger is 11-weeks-old and he can only have turkey or chicken treats. I tried the Newman's dry biscuits and that gave him very soft stool. I tried the Nylabone healthy edibles turkey and sweet potato...he had the runs. He is just very sensitive to different treats. He is on Origen which is a great dry food. He can only have the Vanpatten turkey or chicken semi-dry treats with no ill effect.

Hi Jacquie, I've been a Havanese/Havana Silk Dog breeder for 15 yrs and one of the things I noticed in several (not all) of my puppies was that after they got their rabies vaccine, they developed ongoing GI issues. After the 2nd rabies vaccine, it was even worse! Some of these dogs just had terrible issues that are still ongoing to a point. This is why I'm now involved in the Island Mini Doodle project, to hopefully breed away from this vaccine sensitivity.

Did your dog recently get a rabies vaccine by chance?? You could try giving him some canned pumpkin in his food every day (tablespoon or 2) and see if that helps. The pumpkin has some calming qualities on their GI system. Good luck with your dog. Hopefully it won't be ongoing....

Ollie has struggled since I got him a year ago. I just switched him to Blue Buffalo Wilderness - Salmon, and wow! what a difference. He will still have stomach problems if someone gives him a treat that is not grain free, but that rarely happens.

I know this is an old thread, but yes, my Callie has gastritis issues, vomits in the mornings, trying diet changes.

Linda, Tara also had morning vomiting issues. It seems her tummy is acidic and when it gets empty it becomes irritated.  I started to give her a protein snack at bedtime and again first thing in the morning and it has pretty much put an end to the morning vomiting issue. If you haven't tried this approach yet you might consider it before trying any dietary change. Good luck!

Yes I'm doing that now, also giving her half of a pepcid ac before bed. In the early morning she won't eat whether vomiting or not so I can't do that. Have had her at the vet and he thinks it may be IBD but I'm not so sure. He put her on antibiotics for 2 weeks, no vomiting while on the meds. The concern was that there at times would be some blood which may mean a very irritated stomach. We will see!
Hi there, I am wondering if you ever found a solution to the problem. Was it an ulcer? Did the antibiotics help? I don't have my pup yet, but I am trying to be aware of different health concerns, and diet issues. The problem with grains seems to be very common
