Did your mini or medium gain weight after a year old? Noah has been the same weight and height for the past 7 months (he's 14 months old today). He's pretty tall and lanky. Just wondering if he will gain anymore weight...

interesting that you started this discussion. Duncan will be 1 on 12/23 and was hovering at 22 lbs for months. Today he looked a bit fuller and i decided to weigh him just for kicks. He was 25.5!!!! He gained 3.5 pounds.
Yes, My mini weighed right around 19 pounds from 9 mos. - 13mos. the vet thought she was at her full weight. Then she suddenly gained 4 1/2 pds. and is now 23.5. She was never tall, but soaking wet was scrawny, now she is not. Just a round little fluff ball.
Halas hit 22 lbs at 7 months old, and stayed there for several months, definitely past his 1st birthday. Now, at 2 yrs, 3 months old, he's 27 lbs. So he definitely put on weight after turning 1.
Lucca is still doing a steady 1 lb/month. I just had him weighed and he is now 38.5. He is almost 15 months. Hopefully he will stop at 40. I like the way he is right now.
I guess I probably shouldn't subscribe to the mini/medium doodles sites anymore.....We bought our Dex knowing that he would most likely weigh between 20-30lbs. The breeder told us that many of her males were growing to about 30-32lbs. That was about right and we were not concerned about his rapid weight gain (doubling his weight with every Vet visit). However, as "Luck" would have it...Dex weighs a whopping 48 pounds!!! He will not turn 1 until Christmas and, although his weight has slowed, it hasn't stopped completely. He's solid and stocky and has large feet. His head is big and boxy and I'm almost expecting him to be about 55 pounds before he stops growing! His dad was only 15 pounds, so I guess he took after the Retriever side...somewhere....my understanding was that he was over 1/2 poodle, so I'm still in shock.

My husband jokes that "he's too big". But what can we really do about it now? The poor lil guy doesn't know that he's not a pup anymore. He still wants to sit on my lap, loves to go in the car and puts his paws up for me to carry him on my hip! I wouldn't have encouraged those things had I known I wouldn't be able to lift him! ha!

I'm not sure if this happens to other Doodle owners, but we are in shock over the size of our guy!! Still love him--guess there is just more to love!
LOL definitely more to love. Our littermates - the 6 out of 11 that we know about (father miniature poodle/mother english cream retriever) seem to be averaging around 35 lbs give or take on either side. Originally I wanted Lucca on the larger side but then when he reached 25 lbs I really enjoyed his size. Now he is 38 lbs and too big for my lap. He doesn't seem to know this though!!
Cooper our mini golden doodle is short and stocky and weights a whooping 47lbs., he gained this weight from 14- 18 months old. He is now 22 months.
Misty our mini labradoodle is tall and lanky and only weights 27lbs. she has been this weight since she was 14 months and she is now 18 months.
Is he really active?
Abby and Molly have not gained any weight since they were 9 months old...Abby age 2 is 19 inches tall and weighs 21 pounds. Molly age 18 months is 16 inches tall and weighs 17 pounds. They are very active.....
I love this discussion and will keep you posted on Peri. She is like Noah and has stopped for the past month or so. She is 8 months and is 21-22 pounds. Her brothers are much bigger - 30+ pounds. Sister Ellie on DK is the same as Peri. Wonder if the girls will put on much more weight???
