I guess that makes me an F1 in life!  My bones are way denser than the average person.  :-)   Kona is multi-gen australian labradoodle by dad, and his mom is an F1B Goldendoodle.  He definitely looks like a drowned thin little hound when wet.  The more poodle in the doodle, the thinner the legs I see!

Lucy is an F1 so she is a little "denser". Daphne's dad was a 9 lb poodle so i think Daphne got what I call "poodle bones". They're just not as heavy. She does have a lot of hair. When she is wet there is not much of her. She is also more "bouncy". She bounds around like a little Tigger.

I just looked at your photos of Daphne and Lucy.  Adorable!  Daphne must be very dainty under all of that hair.  Lucy looks more like what I envision Kona will end up being like.  I think he'll end up being about 30 pounds and 18 inches tall.  That's right on the edge of "Large mini" and "small medium".  Perfect for my little house.

I have two "minis". Daphne is one year old and stands 17 inches tall. She weighs 18 lbs. Her Mama, Lucy is 4 years old, 17 1/2 inches tall and weighs 30 lbs.

We love our little cartoon doodles no matter what their final size is. I'd be fine if Kona stays small but I'm sure he'll add another 5 to 15 pounds over the next year. Like you, I purposely sought out a smaller doodle. I fell in love with the breed after meeting my niece's very tall slender 115 pound doodle Dash last year in Montana, but I live in a tiny house in LA with a modest little back yard, so I couldn't accommodate such a huge dog. Kona is an amusing little character! As I'm sure Charlie is!

Good to know that. We were told that you bought a mini and he's a mini no matter how big he gets. The mini's from this breeder are from 25-45lbs but unfortunately Charlie overstepped that range. He really is the size of medium, but I call him mini because that's what we bought. Oh well. We love him anyway. Charlie did grow till he was over one year old, if that helps you, but he is a boy and maybe they take longer to finish growing.

I'm new to the world of doodles, so I wasn't sure. Kona's dad is a mini, but my breeder told me that he would likely end up to be about a 30 pound medium since the mom is a 40 pound medium. I was told that your pup is classified by how they end up as adults size wise and not by their parents' size. Right now, Kona is 15 inches tall, but if he goes over 16 inches, then he will no longer be a "mini".

HI Gwyndolyn Morasko. I agree with you, Mini is what he is actually called and we paid extra for a mini.... Being by "standards", they are usually over 60 lbs, but Charlie's body is pretty much the same but shorter legs. We'd love to get another doodle only this time I would prefer a lot smaller.

Hi Judy and Charlie!  I had to chuckle when you said your Charlie is a mini goldendoole at 51 pounds!  My Kona is a medium double doodle and only weighs 20 pounds at 6 months.  So I'm thinking that he might not get to be much bigger than a mini, so I might have to quit calling him a "medium".    I thought that a 51 pounds doodle was called a "standard" size.  Or do you stick with the title of the sire or dam regardless of how out of the range they get?

Brady is mini and weighs 23 lbs. @ 2 yrs. old. He has been this same weight since he was 6 -7 mos old. You can see his growth chart on his profile page. Actually went up to 25 lbs at about 7 mos then settled out at 23 lbs. We figure at almost 2 years old he must be his adult weight. I love his size but would love to get another 'tiny' doodle - 10 lbs!! lol
