Being new to having 2 doodles I had no idea of the amount of dust bunnies that would accumulate around the edges of rooms where the doodles play. Oscar, the puppy, is always pulling out Lucy's hair... ears, tail, whatever. He usually gets a a fair amount of mouth hair, but a lot of it just gets scattered to the wind. Poor Lucy has about 1/3 the amount of ear hair she use to. At first I did what I'd always done, just vacuumed it up with the hard floor attachment, but I found long strands got stuck in the short brushes. It was a constant battle keeping it clear. I'm sure a lot of you have already figured out smart ways around this problem, and this tip may come as no surprise. What I found works fabulously is the dry Swiffer Sweeper. It does a great job of grabbing those dust bunnies, then I can go over the floor with a vacuum if needed. I feel I've hit the jackpot with this discovery. I buy the dry Swiffer Sweeper refills at Costco so I'm well stocked up. Hope this helps somebody who's stumbling through this same dilemma!

I guess you have never had a shedding dog. The doodle dust bunnies are nothing!

You are RIGHT about that!

We sweep our dust bunnies but they do 'fly.' I wish dust bunnies were the extent of our dog hair. I hate that it is on every fabric item we own.

Your doodles? Mine really are non shedding. We have all leather furniture and car interiors, but there is no dog hair on fabric items, It is so much different from other dogs we have had. I had airedales and my son had a shepherd and those were shedding dogs.

I can't speak for Nancy, but our doodles are basically non shedding. The dust bunnies come mostly from their rough housing where they pull each other's hair out. The only times I've found hair on fabric items (towels, clothing) is when I've inadvertently washed their bathing towels or bedding with the the general wash (lesson learned!). Never had any other type of dog so I can only imagine how that might be.

Deb -- How is your Swiffer Vac holding up.  I have been using these since we got the girls 5 years ago.  I find that mine just do not last that long.  I have complained to Swiffer on numerous occasions.  I ask them what I am doing wrong.  That I use mine every day and I can't get one to last more than about 5 months.  It seems when I first get one I can do my whole house (wood floors) with it, but after a month or two it starts to be less and less time that I get to clean the floors.  The last 3 times I've complained they have sent me a coupon for a new one. Even though I've told them that they just sent me a coupon for a new one and all I want is to know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi Lucy & Annabelle's Mom,

I use the Swiffer duster mop (I have no idea what the actual name is!)... the kind you put the flat dusting sheets onto the flat mop(?) head. They don't break down :) We have a central vac system and I really don't like using it for the dust bunnies, as they get stuck in the hard floor attachment bristles. The Swiffer duster mop gets those dust bunnies and holds onto them. I usually have to use 2 to complete the job, as we have extensive hardwood/tile floors. Sorry you're having problems with the Swiffer vac. I didn't even know they made one.

Ah! I just looked and its called a Swiffer Sweeper. Not to be confused with the Swiffer Sweeper Vac.

Yes Debb, I have the Swiffer Sweeper as well.  I just the Queen of Swiffers I guess.  Sophie was our dust bunny creater.  Since we lost her I haven't had to do the floors quite as much as before.  Although now that we have Honey and AnnaBelle and it is once again grass cutting season the swiffers are back out on a daily basis.  It is just a constant battle here!
