I ask because I am in the midst of a career change and am open to suggestions, especially suggestions that will permit pups to come to work with you!

I manage a membership department and call center for a nationwide, non-profit arts association. We rarely have the public or members in our workplace, so we have casual dress almost every day and a lot of freedom to set up our work spaces as we like. We have 4 people out of 28 employees who bring their dogs in fairly regularly, so it doesn't get out of hand. It started off when a few people asked for permission to bring their dogs in on days with scheduled vet appointments or when their dogs were ill. It grew from there because each person handled it responsibly. We're all very sensitive to the fact that it's a rare privilege that could be taken away if abused.

I think you'll find that employers with relatively few employees that don't serve the public or clients in the workplace will be more likely to be dog-friendly. If you find the right small business owner, you might be lucky enough to find a true dog lover willing to have a friendly mascot, especially one that is less likely to bother people with allergies like the doods

My family works at a dog grooming shop. Huff is always there sleeping, begging, or playing.

I'm a safety director by day.  Senior move, estate liquidator and Shiva helper as well.  Zoe comes with me to my safety director job.  You'd be surprised, just aske your boss, the owner whomever.  They might be open to it, but it's not been suggested or ever thought of.  I am calmer and have a better attitude when Zoe is here.  She brings a smile to all that come in my office or to the window.  Even some of the customers come back to my office to visit Zoe......

Sell your boss on the fantastic reasons a dog can light up an office.  Good luck and hope to hear good news soon!
