What's the story behind your Doodles name?

[Sally loves Maple & Lucky]

When we brought Maple home we were at a loss what to name her. She
looked like Chewbacca from Star Wars but that didn't pass the vote. We
surveyed friends and family and "Maple" fit, but I always remembered
that Chewbacca discussion and catching my husband late one night after
I went to bed, watching the Star Wars DVD to look at Chewbacca. So we
incorporated it into her "formal" or "show" name even though she does
not have papers. She is "Princess Maple Chewbacca of Ingleside".
When Lucky came along we had our reasons for naming her Lucky but also gave
her the formal name of "Duchess Lucky Stormtrooper of Calverton". Lucky
is white so the Stormtrooper thing fits. We live on Ingleside Drive in
the community of Calverton and Maple is the alpha dog so she's the princess. The weird thing
is that we are not Star Wars fanatics - it just happened!

too funny!  I had a friend whose dog was named Dammit.  They used to just call him by saying "come here, Dammit!"

On the way home from the breeder's house, the puppy was sitting on my daughter's lap in the car. Sweet as she can be.... then, she bit my daughter's finger with her little sharp baby teeth!! My daughter yelped, mocking the Youtube video with British accent " Charlie bit me, and it really hurts...!" So, from that point on, the puppy became Charlie.....

Mater got his name from the movie Cars.  Tow-Mater is the old rusty tow truck - same color as our dog!  And he is goofy, yet full of profound wisdom.  The name fit perfectly and always has.  The tow truck goes Tractor-tipping while our Mater goes Toddler-tipping!  (He's 80#).  Pippin got his name because, next to Mater he is a pip-squeak!  and he is very squeaky when he's super excited!  Pippin is also one of the Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings, as well as being a Charles Dickens character.  Both dogs have a great legacy in their names, and the names say just who they are!

We don't have a true meaning for Casey's name. We were deciding on Albany or Casey. We had finally decided on Albany Morgan Dean. However, when we picked her up, she looked more like a Casey then an Albany! So instead of Albany Morgan Dean, we have Casey Morgan Dean.

Love, LOVE, LOVE Havoc, Chaos, and Mayhem.  Sounds like a plan....

[Nicky, Riley & Boris]

Riley came from Scotland and originally we thought we would give him a Scottish name, perhaps Dougal but he was destined to have 'The life of Riley' and Riley is a very common Irish surname and it was a name we both agreed on. Boris is named after the mayor of London who has a mop of blond hair so that's where his name comes from.

[Emily, Bentley, & Maserati]

When I was in 7th grade we got a new puppy after the passing of our other dog. My parents and siblings all went to pick her up from the breeders. My family and another family were picking up their puppies at the same time. Our puppy jumped out of my mom's arms and tried to get into the other families Mercedes convertible, not our mini-van!! We named her Mercedes. 

When my now husband and I got our first doodle, my parents jokingly said, "How are you going to out-do Mercedes?" We laughed and said "Bentley!" A year later we brought home a Chinese Crested Powderpuff puppy. She was a tiny little poof ball. Her personality from the beginning was feisty and high-maintenance, we named her Porsche. 

Mercedes passed away May 2012. For Christmas 2012 my parents rescued a puppy and the family decided to name her Denali. My husband and I recently brought another doodle into our home. We now have our 3rd, his name is Maserati. 

I'm not sure how long the car theme will go as neither my parents nor my husband & I plan on having a new furry family member for quite a while, but it is definitely just another way of them being a part of the car-themed family! :) Plus, I think Bentley, Porsche, & Maserati make pretty awesome dog names! :)
