What is the meaning and origin of your Doodle's name? Darwin is Old English in origin, and it means "a dear friend." Loved that!

We named our puppy Mulligan, as in golf "do over".  We call her "Mullie" or "Molly" sometimes for short.  Just like it means "do over" in golf, Mulligan gave us a "do over"chance in life.  She…Continue

Finding a name that felt right was difficult. My youngest daughter likes Audrey and Katherine Hepburn. Calling out Katherine didn't feel right. So we tried Hepburn, then tried Audrey. I liked that one okay. Then I did some research online and found that Audrey Hepburn's maiden name was Ruston. So it was between Audrey and Ruston for a night. Finally decided on Ruston Audrey.. Ruston now knows when we use her full name she is in the act of doing something she should not be doing. All the pets here have middle names too.

Doc, is English meaning 7th son of the 7th son. I have no idea how many son's Doc's biological dad had. My husband was his dad's 5th son and Doc is my husband's first.. so.. no, correlation there. = )

My husband "chose" his name. He said that from the pics of grown up doodles he would probably look like a Doc. And he would like for him to live up to his name and contribute to the bottom line in the family, go to med school and help support us.. LOL! No, but really, he hopes Doc will be very smart, caring, and a good listener. My oldest daughter and I thought of the 7 dwarf's from Snow White and thought that it would be cute. My youngest daughter (10 mos now) could say Duck so, we figured she would pick up on Doc easily, and she has!

So far Doc is living up to his name and has plenty of time.. he is only 9 weeks old now! He already seems to be very caring, he is cautious with the baby so far has not put his teeth on her at all when playing. Of course we do not give him allot of room to. He seems to understand what "easy" means when near her. He is almost completely house trained, and doing great in his crate. So, we believe he is very smart. As for the listening part, he loves to listen to us talking he sits quietly and sometimes when it gets too quiet he says a few "words" to get us going again! LOL =)

Well, Finnley's name was just a name that I liked. If she would have been a boy she would have been Finnigan. It's Irish, Gaelic, and the meaning of Finnley is "fair-haired courageous one". She is neither fair haired, or courageous ! lol However just being 4 months old, she has plenty of time to work on her skills in being courageous !

What an interesting fact about Birmans. Congratulations about your new puppy.  I also like Miss Moneypenny.

Our newest additon that will be joining us in 2 weeks will be called "Moneypenny".  I like off the wall names and have been a longtime fan of the James Bond flicks.  I studied names for months and made a list. I about drove my husband crazy.  We are retired breeders of cats called "Birmans" and the hx of this cat is to name each cat with letter of the year.  This is the year of "J", so everycat born this year will have a name starting with "J"

Terrific name, Kayla. It really fits a doodle.

I tossed around names for days before getting my puppy. When I was born my family had a lab named Cooper. Cooper passed away when I was about 6, and my dad got another yellow lab puppy, in which he let me name. I named him Cooper as well. (And, I know EVERYONE says this all the time,) but the second "Cooper" was the best dog ever.  So, as an adult, getting my own puppy (that was yellowish in color) "Cooper seemed to be fitting. I was so terrified that my pup wouldn't live up to name though, and knowing that I was changing breeds I thought she should have her own name. After reading baby name books, and tossing names around I finally came up with "Mildred"-Cooper on the two hour drive to picking her up. It means "gentle strength". This couldn't suit her any better. She is an awesome dog, in which we call "Milly", "Mil", "Milly-Coop", and "Mills" for short.

Going to get our goldendoodle in November. She was born on Sept.22nd. We have already named her "Bridget." :) P.S. As I have stated on several other groups...The red girl in my Profile Pic is the puppy I am drawn to...we shall see :)

Leander's name is a combination of the begining on my husband's last name and my maiden. Our PBGV's name Sonitt comes from the ending of our names our terrier Jelsea is made from our initials and 2nd doodle -we named Foster to remind us that we failed at fostering since we couldn't give him up
